So...... anyone going to Blade this year?.... Was all set to go and then got sidelined with a scheduling conflict.... pretty bummed out.... more than a couple friends were going to meet up there.... oh well.... Valkman?.... going again this year?
We had a room but had to cancel. We have to come up with $30k for this new shop and just couldn't go spend all that money at Blade. I hope to go visit Lovett later in the year, but I don't even know about that now. This custom house project is not moving along and you have to ride their butts all the time - I may have to stay and keep on that.
Hey Valkman.... a new shop ?.... cool !.... Melbo... you lucky dog..... wish I could drive over.... maybe next year we can plan to all go!
Yep, been there got home about 1 am this morning. I am exhausted...okay that and I truly think I'm too old to sleep on floors anymore.
No pics because as usual I didn't really take my camera out of it's bag. People with pictures would be the ones on USN. And only 10th of them have shown themselves so far. Guess jet lag rules right now. Yep slept on the floor of a hotel room. Cheap that way. Think if I do it again though I might actually get my own room. That way I can actually see the craziness of the Pit at the Waverly one night from start to finish. Oh wait...I don't normally stay up all night so that wouldn't fly. It was interesting, it was fun, but I'm still seriously tired to death. Tom Mayo is a trip...bought me a beer Saturday night after the Awards banquet - which now I know why everybody calls it bring your own knife banquet...but that in itself was a definite trip to go to. I thought it was nice of Blade Art to invite me. But I thought 2 hours was too long. Lots of knives at the show but as Dex Ewing himself said nothing really new came out since SHOT show in the knife world. Got to meet some nice custom knife makers like Audra Draper, Chris Reeves, Ernie Emerson and his wife (his wife is very nice). Finally got to see some Striders and handle them up close and personal. Josh is nice as is Mick. Buck knives along with Gerber look to be going downhill in quality which is sad. Kershaw has some nice stuff coming out though. But it's really too much for me since I ended up just browsing and not really soaking enough in. Maybe if I go again I'll take a camera and actually use it?
Thanks for the summary.... sounds like an overall good time.... yup... next time a bed might be a good idea.... Hope I can make it to Blade West.... this year.... sometime in September......
Blade West is in the middle of the month I know it's at a minimum the 16th and the 17th (Sat-Sun). If you do go let me know and I'll try and drive over there (it's a day's drive for me). Can probably stay at my brothers wife's side of the family. I would never stay with my family living over there.
Will do.... I'll know pretty quickly.... I'll check out the accomodations and definitely have a room.... you're welcome to a bed, don't they have 2 in a room?, so you don't have to stay with the relatives..... Just tell me if you snore so I can bring ear plugs... :0)
Only when I'm really, really exhausted do I snore (or sleeping on the floor with no pillow). I'll look into seeing if I can get the time off for the road trip when I get back to work.
