(It seems like the movie "Legend" started with something similar to this.) Dec. 6, 2013 - 04:30PM | The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency wants to reinvent the way bodies are taught to fight off deadly viruses and bacteria — without needing a vaccine to make it happen. DARPA, the secretive Pentagon research arm, has hired Pfizer, Inc., to lead a program to build a technology that would induce the body to make protective antibodies to new diseases when someone has been exposed or infected. If successful, the technology would completely bypass several steps now used to make vaccines against new and emerging biological threats. Traditionally, the antigen of a pathogen is isolated and used to create a vaccine, which is then injected or given orally to a patient. The body then responds by producing antibodies to the perceived infection — an immune reaction that fights off future exposures. But in a contract award announced Wednesday, the Defense Department said DARPA has hired Pfizer to develop a “technology platform to identify and subsequently induce the production of protective antibodies ... directly in an infected or exposed individual.” DARPA researchers seem to think it’s possible to force the body to target the invading pathogen, isolate its antigen and produce an immune response all on its own. If successful, the new technology would significantly reduce the time it takes to respond to a pandemic caused by a new or mutated disease. Biological warfare experts and public health officials have long expressed concern over the potential threat of biological weapons and emerging viruses that have no cure. Bioweapons experts told Congress Oct. 11 that the U.S. has a “significant national vulnerability” to deal with a biological threat and added that some rogue nations may already be producing biological weapons. Also in the past several years, outbreaks of new viruses have occurred across the world. A new disease that emerged in Saudi Arabia, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, or MERS, has killed about 70 people since first being identified September 2012. And SARS, or Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, killed 800 from 2002 to 2003. Pfizer will conduct research for the $7.7 million contract in Cambridge, Mass. The estimated completion date for the contract is 2016, according to the Pentagon. New DARPA project aims to make vaccines obsolete | Marine Corps Times | marinecorpstimes.com
There we go again playing with mother nature..... Trying to force the human body to target and infection sounds like a bit of Russian Roulette!!
Exactly. If I can guess, I would say they would be trying to create a shortcut by overriding the body's natural immune system, and that spells warning signs of enormous magnitude. And if it's a DARPA initiative involving Pfizer, I don't see this happening unless it comes in a costly recurring pill with side effects. No thanks.
Yeah. It caused an eyebrow to raise when I read that they were paying Pfizer, a pharmaceutical company, to create a process that would render many pharmaceutical products obsolete. I'm thinking an indispensable part of this process will be something to which Pfizer holds exclusive ownership, in perpetuity.
man oh man...just what we want, and tyrannical goverments would give our eye teeth for...bio technology not only to maintain the proles immune systems by switching it on, but also to turn it off for those pesky troublemakers that annoy TPTB, but indeed to switch selected perceived enemies of the state to self destruct mode. Terminator immune system manipulation technology is what we are all dying for<groan>
Like I said, the body already does this in the form of acquired immunity. Here is a good article on it Adaptive immune system - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Basically, it the the process of making antibodies to new things one is exposed to including pathogens and vaccines. Most DARPA projects are either theoretical drills or very basic concept projects. This is just a payoff to Pfizer for who knows what (campaign donations, free AIDS meds to Obummer's constituents, keeping some union benefit, etc.) Pretty much the whole system of research is corrupt by pure profit, ideology or bribery. Good studies don't get a green light by IRBs, IACUCs, funding organizations or universities because many times they are afraid that the results will contradict some political or ideological tenet. It sounds tinfoil, but it is one of the methods of NWO-type control. Many studies that accidentally reveal some evidence against them routinely gets buried, even by the PI who has to dismiss the opportunity to publish. Since knowledge is power, some knowledge shall intentionally not be allowed to be proven, and if it does, it shall be silenced. It's kind of like when the Church controlled science insisting Earth was the center of the universe, the world was flat, etc. Except now the Church is the NWO of ideological and economic totalitarianism.
