Nabbed 15 lbs of carrots at the farmers market today, managed to process (pressure can) 9 pints of carrot sticks. Based on what we used for this batch we'll have enough carrots for another two loads in the canner for 27 pints of carrot goodness. The Mrs also had a huge pot of her famous applesauce going and we managed to process (waterbath) 18 pints of appley wonderfulness.

Happiness is listenin' to the lids going tink...tink...tink as they set.

Several folk above have mention a minimal amount of space for their preps, you'd be surprised at what you can cram into a broom closet if you put your mind to it. Don't need fancy store bought shelving, just 2X4's and plywood. There's plenty of room underneath and behind the furniture too.

Picked up a bunch more WW2 eco-friendly (no-lead core) .30-06 rounds. Figured they would have had green tips instead of black. Go figure. Glad I don't have to worry about putting lead in the environment with those. EDIT: also got a box of emergency non-GMO seeds from Costco for the garden next spring. We'll have to see how they turn out.

KAS, sometimes it is smart not to start a fire. One must nurture a taste for acceptable raw foods. lol

You say "splitter" , is that the triple tree(as I use) or something smaller? I always mount the lantern on top, and feed the two stoves to left and right. Set in a corner kitchen area, it works very well indeed.

A chain saw, and some potasium iodine. I've been at this for awhile now. I've got a goat farm three well sites with spare pumps. I've got a solar generator that puts out up too 3200 watts. I can run two window A/C units and the well pump and still not use anything from the battery bank. I've got all the ammo/ guns I'll ever use canned and dried food stored. four complete BOB's and some light weight militay vest. I actually have all these supplies for my kids and grandkids. This is there bug out location if anything goes to crap. We're building a huge green house in Feb 70'X24'. We'll can all the extra's . I'm also working on a adobe shelter 1800 sq ft. If you need a cheap nuclear proof shelter, 4" of dirt is enough to stop raditation, most adobe walls are 18" thick. For reinforcement though out use barded wire. I'll have the best shelter or the best goat barn around.

potasium iodine <--- That's something I didn't think I needed until the Fukashima incident, then it became impossible to find. Been stocking up on it for a while now.

Picked up five 20 lb bags of Carolina Jasmine rice today.

Off to Home Despot tomorrow for pails !

Potasium Iodine (E-Bay) it is said if you wait for the event to happen, you'll never get your hands on it! Going to work on getting my compound bow / arrows and related equipment up to date next.

Got my first three 5-gal cans of gasoline put back. Hope to do at least one a month until I have a 5-gal for every month of the year to rotate into normal use. Once set up, that gives me 60 gallons of fuel for emergencies with minimal cash outlay.
