QUOTE: I have worked in the government on and off for 40 years. During that time I became quite familiar with requisitions, bidding, awarding, contracts etc. It is a time consuming process with bean-counters and pencil-necked bureaucrats every step of the way. The simplest request takes months to process, NOT days or just a few hours........... In less than 8 hours of the shutdown, miraculously ( ? ? ? ), professionally printed 3X4 foot signs appeared all over the country in the tens of thousands saying- this [park, facility, etc. with custom logos] is closed due to a "government shutdown". There has not been a government shutdown in 17 years ! ! ! These signs were designed, Specifications were determined, Signs were then requisitioned, Bids were posted and vetted, Government contracts were awarded. The materials were then ordered and the signs were manufactured then, distributed U.S. Mails or freight companies. This shutdown was orchestrated and planned well in advance at least 6-8 month ago, to allow for the above process. Millions of tax dollars were appropriated and spent in this process....... There's a paper trail a mile long leading directly to the White House.
I would love to hear one of the providers come forward and say just that. Not that I doubt you, not what I'm saying at all. Just that it would be nice if one of the companies that participated had a leak...
this is administration seems to have a policy that states "you may not speak of this", to everyone involved.
interesting and I had some thoughts about it as well. we don't have the money to keep open air parks open to the public where they had minimal, if any staff. But now somehow we have the money to post guards and signs at these closed parks? I guess it would be one thing if the signs just said "This park is closed" but most of the signs I have seen have SPECIFICALLY stated "this part is closed due to the government shutdown"
"Make as difficult for people as possible" "closed due to government shutdown" , EBT card 'glitch' during prime time. This is clearly intended to stir up resentment/ hatred/ anger. This is an attempt to aim an angry mob. IMHO.
Now you know why they say that a shut down is more expensive than continuing. Frosts my nether regions, for sure. More guards, with overtime, than rangers bumping along with minimum resources.
Lots of fines being written right now across the country, to make a point and remind "people" that the government will punish you if you fail to comply to their demands. Here is just one example of a local citation.... and the BS. Stop at Olympic National Park, get $125 ticket | KING5.com Seattle
As far as the EBT/SNAP thing, isn't this the 2nd time or more this year there have been issues with it? Maybe the last one I'm thinking of was only in CA (or MS? damn getting old) where the EBT system was unavailable for something like 4 hours and everyone on it was like "but i can't feed my kids NOW!"
I saw where this Teacher will take the Citation to Federal District Court, and ask for a Jury Trial. Then watch the US Attorney squearm trying to convince 12 Jury Members to convict the Teacher for a measly $125US. If she was Smart he would drop the Case, as UnWin-able. The Folks over in Squim, WA are never going to convict that teacher, PERIOD.... ....
