I'm with @Sapper John on this one. Many more take offs than landings out of perfectly good fixed wing and rotary aircraft. Hence the Yard Dart moniker....much better name than my other alias- dope on a rope.
I worked in the industry a looong time and the purpose was to make sure all systems worked so landings were mandatory. Some did not go so well.

I conclude some intent suggesting bragging in some cases is quite acceptable and some humour may not translate from English to English or to the English. Probably many are not familiar with the goofy quotes from a baseball icon from the 1930's who went on to be a colourful announcer either. This passage from Wikipedia about Dizzy Dean seems oddly apropos: An English teacher once wrote to him, complaining that he shouldn't use the word "ain't" on the air, as it was a bad example to children. On the air, Dean said, "A lot of folks who ain't sayin' 'ain't,' ain't eatin'. So, Teach, you learn 'em English, and I'll learn 'em baseball." These may not be enjoyable. Dizzy Dean Quotes ;-) AT

I've had a great time paragliding; it's the closest thing to flying like a bird that I can think of. Minimal equipment, unpowered, open to the elements. Landing was like stepping off of a tall curb- it was just so gentile, nothing like a PLF that I had to brace for when skydiving. (I'm not putting down skydiving, it's a different kind of fun than paragliding.) The only problem with paragliding is the potential for a low-level wind shear or negative G drop close to the ground, where your foil may not inflate in time for a quick recovery. The weather conditions really dictate whether or not you can go paragliding that day over most other forms of flight. I would love to get some hours in a gyro copter, but there aren't any instructors near me, or within a reasonable traveling distance.
Everything has risks associated with it. The idea (I used to be a CFI) was to let the student learn how to physically manipulate the aircraft by himself (I was there to keep them from hurting themselves or the aircraft), but instead teach them judgement, critical thinking skills, and decision making abilities. That is what makes a good pilot- knowing when NOT to go flying and what NOT to do when you are flying about. Still there are risks involved. The idea here is risk mitigation, whether by adding safety equipment or by training for adversity.
Same as driving , there is always a risk. I feel kinda nakid without a fling wing fuselage on the outside,, Kinda like driving without my seat belt on.. Im going slow (not much free time , as my chores are for moving to self reliant ) .. Sloth
