I don't know where the ammo prices are coming down, but I was in at Wally-World and asked if they were getting any ammo soon and the guy laughed until he nearly passed out. The only other place locally is the high priced store where the prices were panic prices BEFORE the panic and even they are looking a bit thin around the edges last week.
I'll be going on a vacation in the next few weeks. I'm planning the route based on gun store waypoints.
I posted an ammo alert on the shoutbox today. Availability of many types of ammo is improving. Price is coming down a bit, but not as low as I would like. Check out Midway usa for what they have. You might find something you need. 55gr and 62gr USA manufacture nato spec .223/5.56 for 54.5 cents a round per 1000 . my previous ammo alert a couple weeks ago was 55gr foreign reloadable .223/5.56 at 57 to 60 cents per rd for 1000 rds and it sold out in less than 24 hours. Act now if you need it, or rue the loss.
Was in town yesterday and visited the local Gun Emporium.... They had two (2) old Crappy AR15 types for over $1KUS each.... and they had NO IMR 4895 Powder at all, and none coming anytime soon. I bought the last 100 CCI Large rifle Primers they had, with no more coming, any time soon. They had a fair selection of Pistol, and common Rifle, Ammunition on the shelf, but at double what I expected to see for Prices. They had a fair amount of Shotgun Shells, on the shelf and a whole SLUG of ReLoaded Stuff, from their Reloading Business, in 12 and 20Ga..... so I spent $5US for the 100 LGR Primers and looked at a few pistols, just for fun.... but wasn't really impressed with what was in stock. Oh, Yea, not a single 22 LR in the whole place, and none expected any time soon.... So much for Juneau, Alaska... I hope Seattle, is better in October.....
Yeah, it's pretty dry in my area, too. I don't like buying online, I do NOT trust my mail delivery services or the locals on the sidewalk if I am not around...
@Brokor I'm going with providing our current friends ammo so that they can give it back to us at a later time. Albeit it will be returned at higher velocity.
apparently Hornaday is retooling to increase it's ability to manufacture.... which counts for some of the shortage
I found .223 that was under a buck a bullet. The only drawback is it's online. Cheap Ammo For Sale | In Stock Ammunition For Sale
The link I posted for MidwayUSA was for nato spec M193 55gr fmj and M885 62gr fmj penetrator rds at 54.5 cents a round on case lots of 1000. It was in stock and USA manufacture. If you missed the link I guess that 15 cents more per round is okay. Whatever ..... . there are however 1000 rd PMC manufacture nato spec M885 62gr penetrator deals at Pop_45's link above for 50.9 cents a round.
Nanchez has federal 22lr for .06/ rd again. Doubt it will last long. I'm seriously considering an ak74 now that I've seen pricing and availability on the ammo...
Yeah, i just tried and after registering it still won't let me order either. Says you have to be a member and is not an easy buy in membership (i was hoping it was like Costco, lol).
Ammunition is UnRegulated for the most part, Federally.... so Yes, a Group Buy could be done... The real trick is finding someone to split it up, and do the shipping, as ammunition is DOT Class O-RMD Freight..... State and local Regulations can still apply.... like those in Kommiefornia.....
X mil and others can be a member pretty easily. Main thing is to have a valid "Group" this being proof of a membership in an association. Call Monday to find out what it takes. TEXAS STATE RIFLE ASSOCIATION can be joined from any place and meets the "GROUP" specs. I joined from 3 states away. TSRA - Protecting Your Gun Rights
