(BTW, that's 2 jobs working 75 hrs per week) links to McD's own moneyskills document. McDonalds and Visa Show It's Easy to Get By on a Low Salary as Long as You Don't Eat McDonalds budget: No food, no heat.
a lotta folks here in Cali have figured that no tax thing out Ghrit....it's why I am moving. Those who vote for a living do well here....those of us who work...not so much
Most minimum wage employees are not worth the wages paid them. It is a starter wage, while workers are learning how to be productive, how to make money for the company. As their skills and experience increase, they are expected to move on to better paying jobs. It is not supposed to be a way of life. And raising minimum wage. simply raises all wages, which increases costs, and raises prices of finished goods. If a supplier/ driver gets a dollar extra, and a pizza maker gets a dollar extra, and the delivery driver gets a dollar extra, and the cashier gets a dollar extra, that $8. pizza just became a $12. pizza. Then the manager wants a raise, because everyone else got a raise.....and it never ends.
"McDonalds and Visa Show It's Easy to Get By on a Low Salary as Long as You Don't Eat" There was a time when I lived on frozen TexMex Food and cooked cracked soybeans. Soy beans with milk for morning meal, soybeans mixed in with the TexMex food for dinner. Hamburger once a week for my veggies. Plenty left over to party on with one job. Where did I go wrong? YMMV
The two figures I have to scoff at are home and auto insurance for $100 total per month (sure can't do that here in hurricane country), and health insurance for $20 per month (from what past century did they get that ridiculous low figure) .... health insurance is going thru the roof with Obamacare.
Does Mickey D's have a health plan for their min wagers that only costs ~$10/pay period? My guess is that they do not. But franchise holders will soon be required to provide a plan when Obummercare goes into effect. Or they'll shift any employees over #49 to part time. Or they'll divide their franchises out under different companies/corporations to keep each individual business under the 50 employee cutoff. I work for a very small company that has 4 family members on the corp board and 2 employees and the company pays 80% of my monthly premium. My health insurance costs me $30/pay period (just under $800/yr). Add kids to that and it goes up by ~$220/pay period! Their math certainly isn't taking into account any parents working 75h/week! My cost has only gone up about $4/pay period each year for the past 4 years. It's good coverage with a $500 deductible & 80/20 coinsurance. I am very thankful for it though I don't agree that companies should be required to provide any insurance coverage other than workers comp. Using health coverage as a benefit/incentive, however, a company can attract better employees. The last two corps I worked for paid 100% of their employees HC premiums. Though they both have since stopped paying 100%. One is at 90% and the other at 80%. So it's definitely possible to have cheap HC but it is becoming much more uncommon. It will be interesting to see just how much Obamacare lowers health care costs. Yes I did say lowers...for some reason I'm feeling all touchy-feely & optimistic about his promises today and am hoping for some change. Must be that 2O12 bumper sticker I saw on that Prius on the way to work this morning. I think that guy must know something I don't! Byte
I don't think Obamacare is going to lower anything. All it will do is shift more money into the pockets of the Insurance Companies, and put businesses, and private citizens, in a greater bind. I'd have been impressed if he'd come up with a way to increase the level of health care available to the common citizen without making the insurance companies richer. Our healthcare/health insurance system is out of control and is a gaping wound in our nation's economic health. Historians, when they write "The Rise and Fall of the American Empire," will note our healthcare system as one of the factors leading to the decline and fall of our nation. Unchecked greed will be our undoing.
Agree mostly, but not completely. I think it WILL lower a few things: Productivity New Business start-ups Profits New hires Job satisfaction Otherwise you're pretty much spot on. And where in the WORLD/time did they get those numbers. Lastly, telling me to work more because you don't pay me for $**t is a little touched in the head. That is the actual PROOF that you can't live on minimum wage (which you should be trying to do anyway). As was said, it's a starting wage...and many who earn it are STILL underqualified!
Based on a former co-worker, I'd say it's actually quite possible. Here's how you do it... and judging from the McDonalds nearest us I'd say this is exactly the sort of worker they want to target. Monthly Net Income Income (1st job) 1,105 Income (2nd job selling 'scription oxy to your coworkers) 955 Monthly Net Income 2060 Monthly Expenses Savings 0 Rent (in govt housing, aka cracktown) 55 Car Payment (take elderly mother's car, she can walk) 0 Car/Home Insurance (who needs insurance?) 0 Health Insurance (medicaid) 0 Heating/Electric (completely paid for through Panhandle Transit) 0 Cable/Phone 100 Food (154 a month in food stamps provided) 100 Gas 150 Monthly Expenses Total 375 Monthly Spending Money 1685
LibTards are GREAT at spending other peoples money, but when that money runs out, they get very protective of their money...... ......
The majority of minimum wage workers are in high school or college. If your 40 years old working for minimum wage you have much bigger problems than making minimum wage.
