I ran across these guys at a convention a few weeks ago . They sell ball bearings.... all sizes every sizes all different types of materials ... They insisted that we are being ripped off buying the "wrist rocket ammo" at the store. and we should lookinto purchasing from them ... they babbled off some numbers that sounded pretty good. hooverprecision.com I HAVE NO AFFILIATION TO THIS COMPANY IN ANYWAY AND DONT KNOW ANYONE WHO WORKS THERE .. JUST TRYING TO PASS ON SOME GOOD INFO .HOPE IT HELPS!!!!! Afterall thats what this site is about afterall.... sometimes its hard to see that
There are others on here that may benefit from this, But I get mine as a side effect of my job. so mine are free, I just use a magnet to gather them up. Do you also use a slingshot? i hunt rabbits and squirrels with mine.
i have one or to of them but never hunted with them ... It one of those things to me when im at the store i see them and say hey they are 8 bucks y not buy one ... I have alota skills to get sharp before i take sling shots seriously its more of a toy for me,,...
Rocks. Lob rocks, High speed rocks, around the corner flat rocks, frangible rocks. Slingshots rock. BTW @kellory, how the hell did you play paint ball without crushing the paintball? Obviously it wasn't a sanctioned PB event as your FPS is too variable and a number of slingshots exceed the 100M/S (300fps) limit by nearly 50%
I use one very similar to this one, but mine has an ammo pouch. Paintballs do not crush in the pouch, and the magnet has been removed (just cut the stitches and removed that layer). You are right it was not sanctioned matches, they have set gear requirements, I was however, asked to join) though, there is one pro team that now carries a slingshot like mine as a back-up, because of me.. I have had it cronographed for every game, and have never gotten very close to the max (300fps) and neither will you. Paintballs are heavier than standard ammo, and therefore slower. Range is a little less than with a gun, and rate of fire, if I have a tube of balls, in hand with the slingshot, I can get off one shot every two seconds. I can hook a ball more than 6 feet, by shifting the ball to one side of the pouch or the other, (it imparts spin). I can also do what no one else can do, reuse paintballs from the ground. that are slightly uneven. Slingshot makes much less noise, and easier to carry, and conceal in shadows, and shoot around corners. I used to play twice a week on open fields, and pro teams would take on all comers. They were a bit shocked to be removed from the game by a slingshot, from the high grass. I have a spool of weed whip line, with a "S" hook on the end. as I would crawl into position, I would hook onto a bush or branch in passing, and start shaking that bush when they started looking for me. dark paintballs with bright paint, are hard to use as tracers. Most times, I would take out one or two guys before they even knew, I was around. Shirt pocket radios, with VOX mikes, and two or three of us, could take the woods battle from them. These slingshots, will fold, and fit in your back pocket. There may be ones fast enough to break the limit, but I have never handled one that could while throwing paint.
Joerg is a maniac! Anybody try launching arrows/bolts with a slingshot? I have limited experience with a slingshot, but wouldn't mind trying to launch some arrows with one. If I remember, you need arrows with a hook on the tip, not launching them from the rear like a bow.
Just asking. I can remember seeing magazine articles and adds about them when I was an impressionable young lad. I never got any trigger time other then bows.
I've used lead split shot squeezed back together with a pair of pliers. I'm sure it will kill most small game quite easily.
