I think it was Fox News that reported that four volunteer firefighters were missing. And I wasn't aware that you didn't put out a fire of that type with water. I did know that you don't put out a grease fire with water, you use baking soda.

BTW, I understand Anderson Cooper is in Texas, probably to cover the fire for CNN.

The guy that taped that was (reportedly) 300 yards away in his pickup. Said it lifted the truck off the ground, scared the snot out of him and his daughters.

Yep, It will be interesting to see what the Investigation comes up with.... and compare that to the 2300 Tons of AN that went up in Texas City in 1947, under similar circumstances..... There was a lot of research conducted after Texas City, to uncover the route, to detonation, of AN, when it is burning, and water is used, to try, and put out the fire. This was an unKnown phenomenon, before Texas City, and it took a few years of Lab Work, to figure out, just what, the How and Whys, of it. When I was in that Biz, it was a REQUIRED Course of Study, in Analytical Chemistry, to follow the path of that research. There was one other time in History when such an issue happened. It was in Germany, and the OEM had stockpile AN in Giant mounds, covered with Tarps. One of the Mounds somehow caught FIRE, and the local firemen were trying to extinguish it with water, pumped from a nearby river. When it detonated, if removed the local Town from the Map. Literally blown away, with NO local survivors. I don't recall the Date, but as I recall, it was between the two World Wars, sometime.

What I am worried about is social services showing up at this guys door and charging him with abuse or child endangerment. Sad but that is what popped into my mind. We live in a crazy world.

Not likely, as most folks have No Idea, what kind of Dangers are right in their own neighborhood.... An Ammonia Nitrate Plant right next to a Jr AND Sr. High Schools? Somebody wasn't thinking, much about that issue, FOR Years, and it finally bit them in the A$$.... This is what Zoning should be about....

I remember back in the 80's near Las Vegas, a rocket fuel plant blew up about a quarter mile or so from where I lived. I always thought it was a marshmallow factory until that point.
