Been lurking for a few weeks from Commifornia. Lots of good info here that helped us get started preparing. Have a ham license but haven't been active for a few years due to school and work priorties. Now retired and hope to get back in to it. Thanks to the Admins and owners for a great and informative site. (doesn't hurt to kiss a little butt on the second post )
Ok, a Ham, as well as a former Biker.... We have both around here.... So, Welcome to the Monkey Tree..... Pick yourself out a branch, and have a look around.... When you get comfortable, and back "On the Air" give me a shout .....
Thanks Dm, BT. Appreciate the howdy. Guess Y'all are the official "Monkey Greaters." BT, always wanted to visit Alaska but could never quite make it. Is that a 172 in your Avatar? Friend down here was part owner of one. Used to fly with him when ever I could. But alas, he aquired a grand child so the plane was sold.
No, not an official monkey greeter, just a fellow inmate of SoCal. Give me a yelp if you need any 'local' info. If I have it, I'll be happy to share it.
Yea, It is.... Belonged to a local Bush Pilot (Steve W.) that was killed in a crash a few years Back, and sold with his company to our Contract Mail Carrier, since.... The Picture was taken by my Friend the Rabbi, (rabi) and I took his picture, so he could show hs wife, that he actually was out here in Bush Alaska, Blessing the Salmon Cannery for Kosher.....
Born and raised in LA CO. Lived here all my life except for 4 years in the AF. Used to trek to Tommy's on Rampart and Beverly about every other week. I think that is one redeaming thing about So Cal. There is now one in Corona so we don't have to travel so far.
That's kind of scary. When I first moved to LA, I lived at 6th & Rampart. I know that Tommys. I now have one not too far away, at Burbank & Laurel Canyon in the Valley. I actually thought that fast food peaked with Pup N Taco. It's mostly been downhill from there.
Believe it or not, after our wedding rehersal in '76 we caravaned down to Tommy's. Folks thought we were crazy but but we are still married. It was fun. 40 close friends munching on Chili.
That does sound like fun. After my wedding (at a chapel on Wilshire), we went to IHoP. It was fun, too, but the manager there didn't look happy to have 30 people come in together. His problem.
I was a motorcycle courier in Californication for years, and have been all over the state. surfed the waves(knee board) , and worked out on the rings on Santa Monica beach. i still have my body-glove, but it will fit my son now. Welcome to the Simian nation.
LOL, I too live in the Inbred Empire, I'm over by Hemet. Ive been gone for a very long time and have decided to get back into the scene. Welcome to the machine.
Welcome to the tree... Grew up in SoCal (South Bay), wouldn't go back at gunpoint, now retired one state north. Do understand how some folks like it there though...
I hate it with a passion now. Moved here in 78 and watched it go downhill for decades. Planning on Prescott Arizona for my base of operations within the, oh, I duunno, 3 years, 11 months and 7 days. Not that Im counting. My 31 year career will be over and my life will begin.
