    Hey BT - If you haven't purchased that 590 yet, check this out...

    Kenwood TS 590s HF 6M Transceiver with Autotuner Beautiful | eBay

    Right now it's up to a little over a grand. Might save you a few hundred bucks unless you'd rather have a new unit.

    Yep, Saw that, but had my heart set on a NEW Unit, so I ordered one from HRO, in Portland, OR. along with the TCXO Option... This gives the Radio .5ppm Frequency Stability. I will pick up the Digital Message Option next month, after the AR-10 Optics are paid for...... got to Prioritize, my wants...

    What do you think of the TS 480? Looks a bit more portable than the 590S.

    Great Radio for it's size.... I looked at it, but I wanted what I figured was the next in the TS-690 Series, which was the TS-590, and Mobile isn't a priority for Me, these days. (No Place to drive, up here) Check out the Design Criteria used for the TS-590..http://dl.dropbox.com/u/77579889/TS-590_In-Depth-Manual.pdf. This is what sold me on this Model, and there is NO WAY, I would spend, what they are asking for the TS-990.... That is just NUTS....

    I hear ya. Budgets are what they are, and my ship hasn't come in just yet. Plus, there are opportunities for mobile ops in this area, and the 590 would take up a lot more space on the passenger seat of the pickup, where I could stash the 480 in the back of the extended cab and still operate from the front seat. Leastways, that's the current thought process, all is still TBD.

    Hmm. That's EErie. Think too much alike. Probably the whole bunch here is like this. Looks like I've found the right place. Bought a Vortex scope last summer for - well let's just say it's similar.

    Anyway .5ppm is some pretty awesome stability. What does the digital message option do?

    Just let's you record/playback audio to and from the RF side, and adds Voice to all the settings, for Sight impaired operators...
