That is exactly what I would do. If this was preplanned, he should have a few hidey holes already stocked. If this was spur of the moment as it appears, he has been trained for being behind enemy lines. In the snow, I would expect he is IN THE SNOW (igloo) and well hidden. The longer he strings this out, the more he panics the cops, and the more the media digs into the story. He could follow the story on his phone, for that matter. (If he hasn't turned it off to prevent a triangulation.) He could check it on the move, or in spurts.

Yep! hit and run is death by a thousand cuts plus 911 call gets them right to his kill zone.

I read once that with all the Gangs in L.A., that the Police are one the most outnumbered gangs. An that is why they tend to use excessive force a lot. To keep their position of being the Dominant Gang.

I used to live in the middle of Crypt's territory. (LA) and I remember one night where they had 1 man on the ground, half a dozen officers with drawn guns aimed at him (hand cuffed, feet cuffed, and hands and feet cuffed together. surrounded by a dozen cruisers, and three helicopters. about 50 officers on foot.
he stole a police radio, and was robbing houses here, while calling in "officer shot/ shots fired/ officer needs ambulance/ ect over there.
It took them three days to triangulate his location. massive manpower.

I remember that Case @kellory... It was passed around the Commission (FCC) as a Classic InterAgency response to a very bad situation, for Law Enforcement. The LA Office supplied some of the DF Tracking Vans and I think even the Hams, got involved, to help, as I recall....

ditch witch I do stupid crap, so you don't have to

And, the more public opinion will shift to support him. He already has a lot of love from the cop haters. If LAPD pulls any more Tacoma stunts, they may have a lot more on their hands than just some guy biding his time.

The ones they already have going are going to COST them Millions... I Noticed that ALL Officers involved are on "Administrative Leave"... It is my Opinion, they should ALL be FIRED, on the Spot, for Abject Incompetence, and definitely loose any and ALL FireArms Privileges.... My Opinion.... YMMV...

Look for the Media, in support of the Police, start the name calling. Such as he's gone around the bend, or he's just a nobody in over his head. All the normal ways the media degrades those that PTB want taken down.

The media do not support cops who shot random people, they might hit a reporter!

Some are, some are not, and they cut throat each-other. That is why we get such poor knee jerk reporting like Sandyhook.

Tactics, that truck is just a diversion. He's not there. But there are about 100 less cops in the city. Classic. Make 'em watch some place you are not. Tie up resources elsewhere. If he as some one stated 'had real training' he'd bring it to them and not hide in the woods. I disagree, if he didn't have training, he'd already be zipped up because he foolishly brought it downtown and stood his ground. He's not a coward, nor stupid. He's one man taking on 10k. Time is on his side. He can pick his battles as long as he is not cornered nor spotted. His advantage is, he doesn't have to hold any ground, to protect it from incursion, he can just move to another target.

For him, everything wearing the blue is a target, but the police are after just 1 man, that can blend with the citizens. Their task is infinitely more difficult, and so far they are proving they are not up to the task intellectually, nor tactically.

I'd hate to be one of his high value target or anyone assigned to protect them.
Can you say cannon fodder? I can say it, but the protective cordon hasn't figured out that they are expendable. If he stays out long enough, they will.

If you can't reach the main target, you take out the protective outer rings, before too long the primary flees or is abandoned by the minions.

As for helping out the police, yep, some will. Some won't. And some will even take this time to settle some scores by using the jumpy cops. Some might even help him by providing shelter, transportation and recon.

And what we are getting out of this is knowledge of tactics for future events that may or may not involve us, our children or our grands. This is a time to watch and learn.

Meh, It's a reporter. I'm sure there are a bunch of Liberal Art majors at McD just rooting for the reporter to get off'd so they can get his/her job.

It's more likely they will find him killed by the cold now. I really don't think this guy had a plan he's is just running. He will not be going after a protected target ether. He is just one man and not an operator.
