Drove about 110 mile's west to help cuz put in a drill pipe gate on Maw-maw's land. Since he was in there last week and found some fresh''needle's''..Yeah it's those kind ! Sooo...We get the main gate in and sinking the lock down pole with HIS sledge hammer when off pop's the 12 lb. head and pass's me a pretty good lick..Broke a bone in the top of the foot. So i drive back home..110 mile's with a broken bone, Wait for wifey to come home from her hair appt...4.5 hour's later i get her attention when i sent her this pict... I ended up with a soft cast...and wifey is now making me 2 finger C.R.Black drink's... Sometime's life slip's you a lemom... I slice it up and add it to my beverage..Life is ok tonight..
Looking pretty painful Gator. Keep the "medication" flowing and enjoy the extra wifely devotion you are bound to get
Use it or lose it Gator. Before you know it your window of opportunity will be closed and it will be back to Honey do
I suspect it was the Wedge into the Handle Wood inside the Head failed, al allowed the Head to disengage from the handle. Happens all the time with old handles.
Youd get for vitamins and nutrients if you switch to beer. On the + side least u got the gate done. Prayer for quick heal sent up for ya. G
You can also take a piece of steel pipe roughly 6-8", split it length ways, and duct tape one half of it to the handle butted up against the head.(leading edge) this will protect the handle in case of an over strike, i have them on all my sledges and a couple of my axes. Anything the kids might use. i have a lot fewer broken handles this way.
EEEYOUCH ! On the bright side be glad he didn't ask you to help chop firewood. Rest up and stay offa that foot, best wishes to ya.
Ok...Back up and running i see... The hammer has a fiberglass handle ( the yellow one's ) I think these are just glued on.. The glue failed on a downward swing and i got the full monty standing 6 ft. away.. Note to self and other's...C.R.Black and a rookie 3 legged Gator on crutches do not mix... Thanks' for the well wish's to all.
Day 8, In spirit of the season the foot has gone... Mardi Gras in color... Throw me some bead's Mr... lol...
