Siphoned off two 55 gal drums of heating oil from the home tank before getting a refill today.
Now to cache the drums at the BOL. Oof they's heavy.

@Vetter I like the Tapco mags. They function every bit as well as the Magpul's for me. I do prefer the Magpul mags in my loadout on the MPOC, though...no ridges to get hung up on the quick draw. Otherwise, perfect!

I prefer PMAGs to the original Tapco mags too. But these are what I found available, and at reg price, so I bought as many as many credit card could handle!! They are supposed to be a "2nd generation" design and much better than their 1st try. We'll see......

Thanks for the guidance... As for firearms right now that's a long story so right now I am focusing on home stores like food, items for winter warmth etc. I am looking at a TenPoint Titan crossbow however which is looks totally awesome. What are everyones thoughts on this for some type of protection?

Anything can be used as a weapon. Bows and crossbows may be fine for silent harvesting of game, or even in an offensive role of taking out sentries. But the honest truth is; it ain't much in the way of a defensive weapon. Any reliable semiauto 22 rifle would be a better option. Any reliable pump shotgun ditto. Any quality semi auto handgun in the hands of a well practiced capable shooter. Or, some sort of rapid firing, rapid reloading centerfire rifle. jus sayin

@AKPrepper -- Looks totally awesome until you have to maneuver it around inside a small apartment or narrow hallway. A crossbow is like tac says, a hunting tool only, and specialized at that.

I hope you didn't already get one and put it away this week ---

I can shoot ten arrows in the time it takes me to shoot two bolts. I'm going to run like a little girl if it comes down to defending my life with either!

I have both a fiberglass bow with bowfishing rig as well as a generous selection of other arrows. I also have a crossbow and 36 bolts. These items were far down on my list of preps. Make a prioritized list of preps and whittle away at it as you can. Only jump down low on the list if you can get an exceptional deal. jmho

Tenpoint makes some good hunting crossbows (my Father in Law has one) i have both Barnett and Horton But for self defense they are quite slow. However, there are two choices that can serve that job better than other crossbows and for different reasons.
First , this is made by Parker. It is self cocking, very quite, can be cocked prone, with little movement. This would be my first crossbow choice, If I was hunting men.
Second, this is the PSE TAC-15 it is the longest shooting (with high accuracy) crossbow on the market 100 yards is a reasonable distance with this crossbow, and it is based on the AR-15 (I think)
Third, any semi-auto .22 rifle is more accurate, more deadly, and more likely to keep you alive. But a 12ga,pump with a varity of rifled slugs, buck and ball, 00 buckshot, chained shot, would be my choice.

Again, I put away Nada. But with unlimited mandatory overtime starting this week, I'll be puttting away some debt in a hurry. Oh yeah and my sanity, that's probably going to go into storage until sometime mid summer.

I just Hit 40 hours for the week and I'm only 3 days in. 4 more to go! I think if I could be productive working 20 per day they'd be ecstatic!

" Oh yeah and my sanity, that's probably going to go into storage until sometime mid summer." Better shrink wrap, and vacuum seal that, don't want to find it moldy when you open the package, that could be really gross....

I've got a felling that we're about to see a renewed interest in crossbows---right after the next episode of The Walking Dead. I think that series is going to have its second half of the season start in February.
