It looks better in this carbine version than the rifle version. Me thinks Santa is making a late visit this year. Because it's not yet available! Who thinks I'm going to be checking the website daily?
Drop a Finn'd Mo in there and you've got a nice rifle. Drop a 99 dollah Mo in there and you got a plinker.
I've only shot a few of them. Based on what I've read and seen a Finn MN's accuracy puts the others to shame.
Round, 1942 stamp with Izhevsk arsenal marking. All matching serials. Not a hex, but shoots straight every time.
Yeah, a hexagonal receiver would be a definite collector piece. Not a hugely expensive investment, but like you said, not common at all. I like the versatility the rifle allows for --with the Archangel stock and magazine capability, it literally transforms a 91/59 carbine into a modern rifle. I have seen information on changing the bolt handle out for a turned-down one, but I don't fancy the idea. The bolt handle isn't a serious protruding item as is. Well, not for me. I bet the guys who changed it out and went through the pain to weld a turned-down one on are kicking themselves when they see the video of the Archangel stock mod...Perhaps they will just find a way to Dremel out a method to make it work anyway.
@Brokor I just looked up the specs for that 91/59. I thought deadeyes 9.5# 91/30 had a smart recoil! OMG that thing must kick like a frightened mule. being under 7.5# I don't think I'd want a scope w/o a fairly long eye relief. I think the collar bones might stretch just far enough for a std. relief scope to make orbital contact.
I still fire it with the original steel butt plate. I have to say, my peck/shoulder area looked like Stallone's face in Rocky III. The nice, rubber butt pad on that archangel is a must.
They should have put a bent bolt in the receiver. You always could use a scout scope but that would look stoopid with that stock. What I really like is how you can still use stripper clips to top off the magazine. ...and the fact that 7.62X54 is still available right now.
It really is a gun sellers market right now. This is nuts! . Mosin-Nagant Rifles/Carbines For Sale Gun Auctions Gun Classifieds For Mosin-Nagant Rifles/Carbines Refine Your Search For Mosin-Nagant Rifles/Carbines Below.
Yes, but honestly Tac, you can go onto Gunbroker and find people asking ten times the true value for their guns and other garbage ANY time of the year. Some folks really don't WANT to sell their stuff, they just want lots of money. But, yeah...this whole Obama scare crap will wear off just like it did last time. Eventually.
I would like to see the gun and ammo manufacturers along with all prep geared companies having to work 24/7 for months and months. I would like "we the people" to be the best informed, prepped, and knowledged on the planet. I would like these things to penetrate even the most dense minds of liberals and socialist politicians so that they finally understand that we will not be subjugated. If that doesn't work then at least we we'll have the gear for what's next.
Unbelievable. Just went to www.ammoengine.com for giggles to see if and how 22rimfire cost and availability had changed. At my last look they listed maybe 15 choices of 22rimfire at 19 to 59 cents per round (that price alone had shocked me). . Today is worse, as there are no 22rimfire listings at all. . It's a crying shame I have absolutely no 22 rimfire on hand......... Oh woe is me, what will I do?
