I am sure the folks in mag limited states will appreciate this new item from Magpul. Magpul is a very good AR accessory manufacturer and I highly doubt this is due to fears of national mag limits but to serve those byond the commie curtain already in CA, NJ etc. Magpul are good people and great supporters of civilian use of ARs.
I would agree with you if it weren't for the timing. They see the writing on the wall and made a very savvy business decision, which probably had little to do with CA or NJ, although those States will benefit. When the hi-cap magazine ban hits, they will be poised to be on top of the market for the whole country, while still having a presence in the military/LE markets. But, some gun people will see this as a sell-out; just like they saw Dick's selling-out, CTD selling-out and gouging, etc. I'll be surprised if Bushmaster doesn't invent some gun that has a mechanical counter that counts 10 rounds, then locks the bolt open for one minute and has a bell go off at the end of that time. Just a reminder as to what a bunch of asshats CTD mgmt is.....gouging SOBs. Savvy business decision, but this fight isn't about profit anymore. Every company that sells arms should want as many people armed as possible, while still making a descent profit. We are at the precipice of our generation's Stamp Act. If the lib Mormons (EDIT: lib morons) get their way, CTD will no longer exist, so they would do well to join the fight. Mag AR-15 Colt Factory GI Issued M16 30 Round Sent from my Kindle Fire
I thought I saw someplace that Magpul said they had been in the works for a while and that the timing was coincidental.
That's what I would say too if I was their PR person. What ever the truth is, the announcement is bad timing. I doubt it will affect negatively though. As I posted last week, they've already admonished companies like CTD for price-gouging in the wake of Sandy-Hook. Sent from my Kindle Fire
I read an article way back about them making these mags for those in communist territory. It has nothing to do aboutthe current state of the "UNION"
Yes. It takes them months or even a couple of years to introduce a new product from conception. No way they just decided to do this in the last couple if weeks. Magpul is not like CTD, they are solid AR15 aficionados. Save our wrath for those who deserve it.
I had no wrath; I just said it was bad timing with the suspicion being tongue-in-cheek. As I stated previously, Magpul was the first one on CTD's case about gouging. Magpul is on the right right side of the 2nd A. So is Troy Industries. Check out how bad DICKs SG screwdriver them over (and all their customers who had Troy AR15s ordered). I'll never shop at either one again. Sent from my Kindle Fire
Man . . . it's frustrating trying to "type" with your thumbs and your device changes everything it doesn't recognize. Definitely "morons." I guess "moron" and "lib" though is a redundancy . . . at least for me it is.

Actually, I find that 10/5 round magazines can be a help when shooting from the prone position, you don't have to raise your upper body up so much because of the height of the 20/30 round puts your weapon up so high.
the 20 round body is not so bad either. I find it's just about right level.. I have a few 30 rnd bodies (10 rnd pinned, epoxied) and they are a bit more difficult to wield in prone.
Is the new-ness of the 556 20 rounder because of a generation change? I have a couple of them for prone shooting. Now, a 5-round AR10 mag would a welcome addition to me. I only need two though ...
Check your local hunting regulations, you may already have an excuse to get a couple 5 rounders, or at least plug a couple of 10s or 20s to hold only 5. (Or have a supply of plugs that you are going to install some day.)
