So what did you put away this week?

4 cases of canned veggies. last week 4 cases of canned veggies, 12 cans of chicken ,, 1000 rnds of .22lr, 500rnds of 9mm.

 

just had my pond dug in my front yard FOR FREE....
now just have to get it stocked..... any suggestions im thinging bass and brim and possibly a few catfish

 

Kerosene floor lamp, filled up the freezer with meat, some more LTS food, more canned veggies, spare lamp wicks, vacuum tube tester, another tube-type SW receiver, a bundle of Macanudos, another 5 gallon of engine oil. Also a variable load for exercising the generators and a homebrew manual transfer switch. And some more dog food to put in a rodent-proof can.

That's pretty much our Christmas list...

the lady she got them from said they had soap in them but they were cleaned .. any way in checking for sure?

 

Looked in the food section at Dollar Tree for the first time today, where, unlike Family Dollar and Dollar General, every item in the store is only a buck. Usually I only go there for the seasonal decorations and gift bags but I thought I should at least look.

Got a crazy amount of canned chicken, cans of evap milk, these huge boxes of chicken stock, pasta of all kinds, and I checked the exp dates thinking oh well they'll be about to expire but NOPE! Tried a box of the chicken stock and a can of the chicken today while making soup and they're both good. Saw a bunch more stuff I'm going to get later but I only had a $20 on me... which got me 12 cans of chicken, 3 boxes of chicken stock, 2 boxes of lasagna noodles, and still had enough change left to lose under the seat of my truck.

 

Picked up 2 50 gallon propane tanks, now have to get the wife a new gas stove.

been gone awhile have done a good amount:
canned: 4 qts red sauce (last of tomatoes), stored 10# sugar, 5# flour, 5# corn meal 5#confectioners sugar
Stored: a brown shopping bag full of hotel shampoo, conditioner, and soaps over 30 bottles of different medications and medical supplies, 3 surgery prep kits, 200 feet oxygen tube, mylar blankets, box of 36 hand warmers. 2 cases of canning jars.
BOB: 3 knee highs, knife, mini tool set, leather gloves, portable weather radio, local and 3 surrounding state maps,
Car kit: Change of clothes, extra shoes, towel, gallon of water, matches, fire starter.

asked santa for a presto 23 qt pressure canner for xmas... let the soup and veggie storage start!

Remember that sanity I put away prior to the election? I seemed to have misplaced it or someone moved it. So I've gone off looking for it.

#2 is an item I am going to provide a link to. Once upon a time while on active duty in our nation's military, I bought one of these fool proof diamond hone knife sharpeners manufactured by Gatco from a REI catalog for $10 or $15. I sharpened thousands (no lie, no joke) of knives razor sharp for friends, family, and peers before pretty much wearing the diamond hones out. (not completely, but to the point that they were not as effective and quick as before). The first 1000 knives or so were sharpened effortlessly in less than 5 minutes (this in many cases from a blade dull as a railroad rail). The price has gone up some since I bought my 1st Gatco sharpener 30 years or so ago, but this is one heck of a good knife sharpener. jmho . .. Today I discovered one can stash 16 No.2 cans in those free boxes the post office gives away.

Makes it so much easier to stack it deep, cause it's hard to buy it cheep these days.

I like to think of this as hastening the collapse. Its gonna happen anyway you know.

 

I put paracord zipper pulls on all my bags. 10 H20 purifying tabs. emergency whistles on key chains, bob, car bags. 50 gallons of gas ($3.35 a gallon, been waiting since it went up to $4.50) vacuum sealed protein bars, h20, electro light tabs, powdered drink mix, allergy pills, in 3 car bags..... getting ready to host Christmas dinner for 30 people, so as I have been cleaning I have been putting things together as I find them.
