I actually had two complete sets of front and rear wrangler springs and the other set when installed had the two clamps on the back side of the rear axle? The other difference between the sets were one was a 6 pack rear set the other a 5. This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image. The original image is sized 1024x764. I mocked up the weight of it and placed it in the rear. So i forgot about the brake lines when looking at the shock mount's , I moved them and the pictures below is the result. This is how it looks as of today, I'm going to finish up the rear bumper and tire carrier and add lockers soon, I have to travel next week for work. I think once the weight of the rear tire rack and bumper is added she might squat a little in the rear. Then on to my next project: This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image. I have one that I share with a Partner. He drives it in the summer, and I drive it in the winter. I have wanted to fit a Manual Choke on the OEM Carb. @Quigley_Sharps would you know if a kit was available? That and maybe a manual Throttle Kit for setting the idle... It starts great in the summer, but is very Cold Blooded below 25F....
BT I mine is EFI, but the guys out here use webber carbs or Harley Carb conversions. JC Whitney sells auto choke to manual kits. this might help you too; Installing manual choke - Off-Road Forums & Discussion Groups
LOL yea we do too, but it sure is nice to turn on the heat, turn up the tunes, pop the top on a cold one and cruise around the mnts looking over new hunting territory
I know a couple of guys that have rear-end powered dune buggys. In my local area, they are a little limited- front end is rather light, not good in the mud, and they can't crawl in the rocks. That being said, they run a lot faster on the old coal trails than I care to think about. I believe the name says it all: DUNE buggy. They are more for flat out and soft ground, like desert racing. Not for crawling and climbing over rocks, but launching over them with a lot of wheel travel to absorb the tall landings and such. I've heard of guys putting skiis on the front and larger, studded tires on the back for the winter, but I've never actually seen a setup like that in person. Sounds like fun, but we generally don't get enough snow to make even owning snowmobiles worthwhile. It's like anything, you have to modify it to work within the envelope of your local area.
Yea it might work for summer here, but in that video at the top of the thread we are wheeling in 20+ feet of snow that is hard to walk in at times. Its funny to watch the new guy hop out when hooking up a winch ans see him sink to his hips. LOL
Have lots of mud down south, not so much rock crawling so thinking of going this route just with wide tires to float over the stuff. Will have winch either way just like to move fast on the road shoulders and or move over medians etc and railroad ties if need be..
That should work. I am putting 33" Geolanders on the Zuk. The red zuk is a friends and has 33's notice the air pressure in Lee's tires. This might help you in the mud too, the really deep stuff. These Tacoma Toyota's do really well too they have more power, Chet's White one has 35" rubber on it and still will run 70 down the road. All of these vehicles in the pic also have open differentials and have no trouble in the deep snow. We air down to 4lbs of air pressure and walk on top with ease.
I think I forgot to mention I moved the front axle forward 1.5 inches to accommodate the new tires when mounted.
Installed the ARB Locker and 26 splined axles up front. Got the on board air installed and wired in. I installed the Roadless-Gear Chevy Altenator kit. Arb Locker Lockright. Locker TC snatch 6-5 TC gears and completed bearing kit and front upgraded out put shaft. Twisted T TC kit trail tough dbl tough axle complete front axle rebuild kit Clutch kit all new U-joints. Rear main seal on engine Axle trusses. as soon as my last couple parts arrive I will finish my plumbing for my ARB locker, and add some 33 tires.
Everything is in except the 33 tires. Went wheeling last weekend. I did really well for having pizza cutters for tires. This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image. All in all I didn't have much trouble The ARB worked flawlessly and the Lock right in the rear worked great too. I could switch the ARB off to corner in the tight areas and lock up in the straighter runs. I used to have a Lincoln locker up front and that made turning a b!tch. I should have the 33's here soon and on.

Finally got the 33's on some old wheels I had sitting around, still waiting for my wheel order to arrive. and I am still looking for a ARB Locker for the rear. Other than that the original build idea is now finished. These are 33/12.50/15 Maxxis Bighorns in the picture. Hopefully this next weekend I will have some wheeling pics of it in action in the deep snow.
