I am losing hope for America

    The corrupt secret government can only push as hard as the people will permit. Instead of directing your frustrations toward an institution which was born out of indifference on the part of the citizenry, why not accept the situation for what it is? The People (by a large margin) have been deceived, and they support slavery.

    Don't forget the two mandatory 12 hour days. I was the early voting clerk for several years at my last job. I freaking hated doing it and am glad I don't have to any more. Always someone claiming you're somehow rigging the ballots, laws change every year, ugh. The only thing good about it was the overtime for those two long days. You'd be surprised at how many people made a point to show up first thing in the morning on the first day of early voting. Honestly the folks who early voted were die hard voters. Take early voting away and they wouldn't have cared. They still would have shown up on election day.

    RH, you have expressed my thoughts quite capably many times in the past, and especially so now. I believe that my country has slowly left me in terms of societal structure, morals, governmental growth, and erosion of individual liberties. There is nowhere else to go. Wouldn't it be an interesting experiment to see how well the Blue states would thrive if they would just administratively, legally, and financially separate from the Red "flyover country" and live life the way they wanted! Good riddance; I would say.

    Just have a hollow sick sinking feeling about the future of our nation. IMO, he is a bigger threat to America than any foreign power. Cannot believe that people are so easily fooled---gasoline prices dropped just before election time, free gas to Sandy areas, big promises to minorities, single women fell for his BS promises of security, and he sucked up to the fancy stepping crowd w/o any shame. The college kids living high on parents money were behind him in all states--wonder what they are going to think when they graduate and can find no work.

    Lady i work with this morning said her kid and his girlfriend got $100 gift card each for voting for Zero in Pennsylvania at a rural college. :-( I can't believe someone would sell there country down the road for so little. Others at work still weren't sure who they were going to vote for at 5pm. One guy mentioned snoopdogg in his discussion of who to vote for. I will be double downing my preps and ammo purchases and will gladly sit in my bunker while the country burns. Might have to come up with a name for the group like the Phoenix Militia (out of ashes).

    Well, we have reached the tipping point in the nation in just 4 short years. Given the changes to the voting of Senators to be directly elected, our government is now much closer to a true democracy than a republic. Yes, we still vote for others to vote for us, but the States have lost their power as the Federal Government has swallowed them all through public nipple sucking ventures created at the highest levels. When states get more dollars from the federal government than they pay in, then each state is guilty of becoming part of the machine and is not longer a piece in the puzzle that makes up our land. We are no longer represented, but owned.
    So, let's look back at our seditious forefathers for guidance through the Declaration of Independence. I challenge you to read the entire document since many have forgotten the whys. Now look closely to see all the parallels between yesterday and today. Where can you insert President, Congress, Supreme Court. I certainly wonder what a modern redraft of this document would look like from a modern people who believe the Constitution they have sworn to defend went up in flames over 100 years ago. I guess we are a free people. But we lack the testicles of our forefathers and the leadership:
    When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
    We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.     One side offered Freedom, the other side offered free. So, we see that more people like 'free' stuff.

    If you take a minute and look at the country by county map of election results you see the massive areas of 'red' vs the islands of 'blue' - IOW, this has morphed into (in most places) a urban vs rural election.

    I see this as the rise of the new "City-State" - a situation where a relatively small geographic area with a massed population drives the electrol college outcome... Seen in Nevada, for example, where the Las Vegas metroplex drives the entire state's outcome - in Arizona, it is Maricopa county (Fenix) - for Colo, it's the Denver metroplex.

    Don't know if there is a real 'answer' to this, but I believe this trend will only get more pronounced in the future...

    As I see it you are right about the city vs rural thing. Cities have no concept to speak of how things are in rural areas, and many of those in rural areas are transplants who have for various reasons rejected the cities. Others in the rural areas are born and bred there and would have it no other way. The cities can go to hell for all I care, just leave me alone to live as the Constitution was written. When the shtf, and it will, cities dwellers will quickly see how civil their artificial civil city societies are and they will want to flee to the countryside. Won't they be shocked when they find out how unwelcome they are greeted? Agenda 21 would have me give up my 20 acres and two houses, and they would lock me away in a cage for my views. There is going to be buckets of blood spilled before that happens.

    It's the outcome of thirty years of gerrymandering. We let it happen and these last elections coupled with an outdated electoral college system are the fruits of our apathy.

    True. I recall my early days, making videos and streaming content on the web in the early 00's, then coming on this forum trying to explain how dire the situation was...it's almost funny how incrementalism has its way with people.
