Imagine this: a neighbor doesn't like you--you have a Gadsden flag sticker and a few anti-Obama stickers on your truck...calls the police about suspicious activity ("see something, say something"). Cops show up with a search warrant...find lots of legally bought guns/ammo/preps. One cop magically finds just enough meth to put you in the "dealer" category, and your stuff is confiscated. Indeed. I wouldn't be too worried about crooked cops planting drugs --these days they don't even need that. They can just come in and seize your property and just SAY you are a drug dealer, knowing full well the case is bottomless. It still doesn't matter. Chances are, if they don't kill you in the raid, they can always claim immunity later and receive a paid vacation.
With asset forfeiture, the case is against the property, which has no civil rights and is guilty until proven innocent. If they kill you in the raid, they will not be punished for it either.
It was just a hypothetical--there are countless others. I was thinking of that hot chick who got busted by breaking OPSEC on Facebook a few months ago and the long arm of the law dropped in to teach her a lesson.
Remember when "I love my Country, but I fear my Government" was just a bumper sticker ? -- Those were days.. They were just after the good ole days..
That was when the problem became noticeable, we should never need to fear them - they should fear us, if they will not respect us.
