Has anyone posted the recipe for Scotch Broth here? Somebody let me know and if there is any interest I will post it. In my opinion it's a very good way to ensure adequate nutrition in a real SHTF situation. Stores for years, addresses your need for proteins and carbs in balance, and is simple to do as well as quick! I noticed there was someone new on here wanting to prep probably in a hurry and it made me think of this mix... Anyways, let me know. I'm fixing it for dinner tonight so I can probably even post a pic, lol.
The recipes subforum is the right place for this as well as looking for another one. Me? I'm drooling, like the stuff. (Campbell's is s poor substitute, but works in a pinch.)
I dehydrate all kinds of veggies and seal them in vacuum packs then all i need to do is put a hand full in water then boil or put in boiling water then wait= veggie soup.I alsodry chicken and add to soup too
OMG you guys. Have I got egg on my face right now! I put off posting this because its embarrassing big time. I fixed that Scotch Broth recipe from another of my forums and it was not NOT NOT the Scotch Broth that I had eaten before.... How can I even begin to describe the TOTAL GROSSNESS of that soup. I measured carefully and after it was cooked it was horrible! TRUE Scotch Broth IS REALLY GOOD! Let me look around some more and even check on my old computer to see ifI can find my other better recipe. Until then, I recommend you NOT fix this yet. Or if you do, don't blame me for the finished product! lol lol
marlas1too--- How do you dehydrate your chicken? I'm always dehydrating beef but never do chicken. I make a jerky out of raw beef but the thought of doing it with chicken makes me nervous. Looking forward to your reply!!!
Scotsmen are so damnably stringy and tough, but throw one into the pot with some vegetables and some pearl barley and simmer for several days, and they make a braw Scotch broth.....so my cannibal friends tell me.
kathy i first boil the chicken --save the broth to cook rice in---then take it out of the water ,let cool then cut into small pieces then dehydrate-seal in jars or bag in with the veggies
