I will offer my Monday morning quarterbacking as well.

IMO, a CCW holder could have made a significant difference in this despite the body armor. In a perfect world, a single headshot would do it. Consider the commotion/distraction, probably bad lighting (darkened theater), smoke/irritants (vision degradation). I believe a single head shot would have had an extremely low hit probablility. Shots to the thighs and pelvis to get him down immediately with follow up maneuver and kill shots would likely have been more tactically sound. This reduces his line of sight by putting him on the floor and gives him less tactical advantage on the sheep, stuns him with wounds, immobilizes him and likely disables him.

This same tactic is used by insurgents overseas to take SMU operators.

I agree a well practiced CCW holder would have done some good. CNN was saying the difference maker was a jam to his AR15. Imagine if his AR never got to jam in the first place. Thanks CCW Person, you saved our lives!

I would like to have seen the face on the puppeteer when he/she got the phone call: "What do you mean the cops didn't kill him...he surrendered? Why didn't they shoot him? Obviously, they need better training...send that whole dept. to Israel's police training program."

You should also notice, at first it was CONFIRMED that 14 dead, now there is only 12 dead. I would say two of those bodies were two that the general population was not supposed to know about so now 12 is the official number.

Just a NOTE, HERE: ANY Weapon that uses Black Powder, or a BP Equivalent Powder for a Propellant, is NOT considered a "Firearm" under the GCA of 1986, as amended...... and therefor is NOT Regulated by that Statute, as amended.... HOWEVER, under SOME State Statutes, they are considered "Firearms" and are regulated by those State Statute. The only way to be sure, is to READ your State Statutes, and be aware of the statutes in States you may be traveling thru..... ..... YMMV....

and I would definitely AGREE, that had this Red Haired NutBag, been hit, with even a 38 Special, in his nice Tactical Armor, he would have been disoriented, and very vulnerable to further shots, and manhandling, by folks in the theater. He wouldn't have been Killed, or Wounded, likely, but Knocked Silly, simply because he would have been totally outside his experience, and getting hit, even in Body Armor, is NOT a pleasant experience.

While blackpowder guns are not considered firearms, blackpowder itself is classed as an explosive and as such controlled by the BATFE.

Because he didn't get wasted by the cops....and all the speculation about his ability to pull this act off, the puppeteers thought they'd better go ahead and provide more evidence. "It must have sat there a week before it's discovery" my @$$...it was placed there probably last night.

I just read a story in the WSJ (paper edition) that brought up a few points, but didn't connect the dots:

Evidently, nothing about this kid was out of the ordinary...he was a smart nerd in a Ph.D. program. ....had everything going for him. Then, he just up and quits. (My thoughts are that he was chosen as the perfect schill). The rest of it just doesn't make sense.

For the next month, it is stated that he amassed 6k rounds of ammo ONLINE. Well, that's a good way to make sure that no one remembers his face at gun stores. It could've been him....or, it could've been someone ordering in his name. Can we ever know?

It was also stated that during this time he bought some guns at Bass Pro. I have yet to see any reports on the sales guy who sold him the gun...was it him, or someone else.

All of this stuff could've easily been a set-up. Now, I'm the first one to scoff at a conspiracy theory...but, this whole story--especially taking into consideration the UN Arms Treaty--just doesn't pass the smell test. Jeez...I'm starting to sound like @Brokor.

While he was "out at the movies," his radio was turned on high and his neighbors noted this was out of place and beat on his door, to no avail.

Every time someone scratches their nuts, it shows up on YouTube...but not this. I know people try to bootleg these movies...no one had a video rolling?

Even if he was a schizo and had a break....how did he not blow himself up?

If he kills himself in jail or gets offed by another inmate...the story is over. My guess is, he's being pumped full of psychotropic drugs to keep him in another world.

EXCLUSIVE: ‘Dark Knight’ shooting suspect James Holmes claims amnesia

The Joker is playing the amnesia card.
Accused mass murderer James Holmes told jailhouse workers that he remains stumped about what landed him in a Colorado lockup, a jail staffer told the Daily News.
“He claims he doesn’t know why he’s in jail,” the worker said Thursday. “He asked, ‘Why am I here?’”
Holmes, 24, who is charged with shooting a dozen people to death and wounding 58 more at a screening of the new Batman movie, was also complaining of a stomach ache caused by lousy jail food after his sixth day at the Arapahoe County Detention Center, the worker said.
“He’s claiming his belly hurts him,” the worker said. “He complained once that he didn’t like the food . . . The guy killed 12 people, and he’s upset that he’s not getting a four-star meal?”
The former California honor student picks at his meals on some days, and doesn’t eat at all on others. A typical breakfast would include sausage and grits, while lunch could mean a ham sandwich.
Holmes was arrested in the parking lot of the Century 16 multiplex in Aurora, Colo., within minutes of his bloody rampage early Friday through a showing of “The Dark Knight Rises.”
Holmes surrendered without incident to police.
The suspect remains under 23-hour lockdown, leaving his cell just once a day. Authorities fear that other inmates could target Holmes and have him wear a bulletproof vest during his daily walk.
The jail worker said most folks inside the county lockup consider Holmes’ memory loss a ruse.
“He needs to save his act for the jury because no one here is buying it,” the worker said. “Everyone is convinced he is faking it.”
Published reports indicated that Holmes mailed a notebook filled with gruesome sketches and details of his plans for the attack in the crowded theater.
The notebook was in a package sent to a professor at the University of Colorado, where Holmes was a Ph.D. candidate until dropping out of school just prior to the killings.
The FBI snapped up the evidence after school officials notified them that the package was at the university.
In a statement, the university denied a report that the package sat in its mailroom for a week before the shooting spree.
The package was delivered by the U.S. Postal Service on the Monday after the shootings, and forced the evacuation of a campus building for 2 1/2 hours, the statement said.
The notebook and the rest of the contents were turned over to investigators within hours of the package’s discovery, the university said.
