Were you singing "Rawhide" at the time??

You know...maybe their parents might have had conniptions....but just maybe they were also proud and pleased that their sons may inspire others to take up the traditional instrument. The use of traditional instruments die with the practitioners that know how to play them...perhaps some rock converts to the Samishen may also learn to play some of the traditional music forms, and keep those traditions alive also.

Were you singing behind a chickenwire mesh screen, like the Blues Brothers??? I didn't sing in a church choir, but as the vicar's offsider (can you imagine Chello in a cassock, liturgical girdle and white linen surplice?), I was close enough to the choir, adding the cracking, discordant voice of a boy going through puberty to the choir's efforts, as we belted out hymns through the services. My favourite off all hymns, was "Jerusalem". Now a London Proms standard. Sadly, "Jerusalem" is no longer in the official Anglican hymnal...a victim of bible textual purists and pc censorship I suspect. Edit: The hymn must be popular...it seems to have been covered by a number of rock groups...even by Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

Nature and life has it's own tempo, moods and modes...it is little wonder that composers and musicians have tried to replicate them in musical form...Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons", and Mussorgky's "NIght on a Bare Mountain" being a couple of many that could spring to mind.

I'm not sure how a sniffling child would be replicated in music, but I am sure that Garrison Keillor would find a way.
