So you are saying someone bought a physical catalog - with that VERY picture on it - off of Ebay that had a photoshopped cover? Are you related to Gunkid by chance?

I will try and get alaskachick to write up a post, concerning African Bush Kids, that she meet, while on deployment with Drs w/o Boarders, last fall. They really are, as pictured in those two posts. Happy, boisterous, and full of fun..... Just like all kids that age, but even more so, when they are given the OK, to be themselves, by the Village Elders. ..... YMMV.....

When my ship anchored n Mombasa, Kenya once, a few of us went out into the outlying areas and met the real folks - not the Indians who ran the merchant shops in town. We felt much better buying our trinkets (wood carvings and such) from the people making them, than paying the 'middleman'. The people appreciated that too - got them more money than the Indians gave them.
Whenever I travelled, I'd get out away from the 'tourist traps'. I enjoyed meeting the people who lived there.
Mombasa was far from being 'deepest darkest Africa' though..... take away the huge tusks over the main drag, and it looks exactly like Quincy, Florida. ;)

Some may think of it as an old piece of bunting....

One not only stands for the colours as a colour party passes by, but stands at attention....He knows that, and is doing the best that a man of his age and condition can do. The pity of it is...that the custom is not more generally known, nor the reasons for observing it, understood. But, my guess is, that given the numbers of a younger generation of servicwomen and servicemen who have served in the Gulf wars, Afghanistan, and elsewhere, the custom may hopefully experience something of a comeback.

What to the seated may just be entertainment....to an elderly man in a wheelchair, standing as the colour party passes, is an act of remembrance and respect, therein lies the difference.

It puts me in mind of a poem that I recall from my childhood....

Things seem to have gotten better here when it comes to soldiers and flags passing in parades. The last couple I took the kids to the vast majority actually shocked me by standing. Course I don't know if they stood for the flag or because the M1A2 rolling behind it pretty much commands one to stand and take notice.

RR, I think you just found your bugout vehicle right there!
You might want to change the color from desert to urban or woodland but I don't see anyone stopping you in that.
