I know this is off topic from what we generally discuss, but I need some advice. I am trying to put a flier together to send out for recruiting as I coach women's college hockey. What format would you suggest using as I am going to do this electronically? I was thinking about using Word because virtually everyone can access that. Thoughts?
If you have access to Adobe Acrobat, you might give that a thought. Reader is free, so anyone can read it once created and it's less apt to be "field edited" for amusement.
Use any word processing program you like then convert to pdf. Not everyone has M$ Word. There are several free converters available. If you have Chrome, go to the Chrome App Store...there are several in there.
CutePDF is free and you use it to "print" your WOrd doc into PDF format. Is this going out on email or BBS - or will it go to a website? Word may also be saved as a HTML - bloated to be sure, but HTML none the less.
Witch Doctor is right. Word will convert to PDF - no need for any additional software. Good luck assembling your team!
Thank you Tracy! But, we still have to finish this season strong. It looks like we are going to get a bid to play for the national championship and we have league playoffs this weekend! 8 wins and we will be called the best! Thank you for the advice everyone!
If it's just one page I'd suggest going the pdf route too... the why is to limit changes to your flier... lots of pranksters out there ya know... so why make it easy for them to change what you wrote
Coaching can be tough, frustratin' work but victory is sweet Best wishes to you and your team, Economist. There are few things that are more satisfying than coaching a team to victory! I once coached a women's public service lunchtime volleyball competition team. We got to the final playoff against the team that had won the previous year's championship final and were unbeaten in the year that I coached my team to the final. It was a five set final...and in the first set, the other team wiped the floor with my team, winning it decisively. The second set, the other team also won, respectably, but they had to work hard to get there. The third set was a cliff hanger...it took quite a few changes of service to get the necessary two point lead over the team that lost the set...but....heart in my throat...my girls got that lead!!!, the 4th set my girls won, with some hard work...but clearly the morale of the unbeatable winners had cracked badly....and in the 5th and final set...my girls wiped the floor with the previous years winners. So, yes...I know what the sweetness of victory for a coach feels like.
I picked up 5, $10 gift cards at Starbucks over the weekend. Told the barrista I was buying them to hand out to friends who didn't normally go there, in support of their support of the 2nd Amendment. I handed them out at the gun range last night, told everyone about the boycott/buycott, and to be sure to thank the store employees for the support when they went. I'm also getting gift cards for everyone for birthdays and holidays now. EDIT: Um... ok I posted this in the thread about the boycott against Starbucks by the anti-gun nuts.... not sure how it wound up in here, or how to switch it over. Sorry about that.
This just in...SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY HAS BEEN INVITED TO THE WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!
Well done Economist.....now the hard work really starts! WEll done Economan! Onwards and upwards....so to speak....great work all of you. : )
