Weapon use advisories printed on the weapon are nothing new...though why they were written in English only (particularly to SVN during the Vietnam conflict) perhaps says something about the effectiveness of military training at the time.

Claymore mines had printed in raised lettering "Front towards enemy" on them, when possibly "This side towards enemy" might have made better sense for those who found it difficult working out which was the front and which was the back of the device. I guess heuristic experience solved that training shortcoming! : O

incidentally.....the clacker could generate quite a jolt, which some victims of practical jokers found out the hard way.

The VC had a rather disturbing habit of reversing the direction of emplaced M18's before then making a noisy feint. Not a few allied soldiers got a facefull of ball-bearings for their troubles when they pressed the clacker.

I'd second that motion, RH! I am trying to keep in mind that "boys will be boys"! And learning to switch the channel, so to speak, when I encounter the first posting on this type of thing! Then again, my female curiosity sometimes keeps me reading on when I should have stopped. Maybe they'll need that raunchy sense of humour when TSHTF - life will be all too grim and earnest then......

Well, speaking for myself, my jokes will stay out of the raunchy pile because I have 2 daughters and a son whom I would like to be raised as gentlefolk. I try to stay away from stuff like that in my personal life as well because it is not conducive to raising well balanced, Christian children. My language still needs work, 30+ years swearing AS and LIKE a sailor (I can offend truckers) is a hard habit to break.
