Are Redjacket AR's going to be sold in Academys?

morning all , hitting the ground here this morning . Got one of my hides off the stretching rack . Got the crew's hard at it on production , we're trying to clear out a AK run so we can throw the whole crew at final assy on the first load of AR's for Academy . Friday , which means tomorrows the big day for us . Place we're taking the ....well , large project , for test fire , we can only get into on Saturday . I've never seen the boys so fired up , hell , I'm with them , tomorrows going to be Hiroshima level . Should air in a month or so , when you see the promo's , you'll look back and have no doubt Gotta roll boy's , guns to build and whatnot

Don't know how correct the above info. is...But if true Will and company will be busy...!!!

 

So.... they got their 'legal problem' ironed out?

I had no idea that had that kind of production capacity!

 

That seems extremely overpriced IMO.

I saw the episode and like the idea. I think it could be done for half the asking price, though.

 

You are paying for a name. They say they have ER Shaw barrels. E.R. Shaw barrels are on the cheaper end of custom barrels. I have an 85 dollar generic barrel on my AR and can shoot 1 MOA with match ammo. I could see paying that much for maybe a Krieger barreled AR.

 

I believe J&T (Double Star) use ER Shaw. Probably a great place to start if someone wanted to build a similar carbine.

 

There is nothing wrong with ER Shaw barrels .I've used them for years on many long range builds and have never been disappointed in their performance.

 

Didnt mean to imply ER Shaw are bad, I just didnt consider them a big selling point on an 1800 dollar AR. I originally looked at them when I was doing research for a custom 1909 Argentine Mauser build I was doing. I ended up with a Douglas XX air gauged barrel.

 

For that dollar amount; I'd look at Barnes Precision Machine or Daniel Defense.

 

It's crazy the prices they ask. I'll bet the use allot of cheaper stuff and get them into academy stores for under $1200.

Anyone know if Vince is starting up his own shop? He was one of the only guys there i would want building a gun for me. If they are building thousands of guns they are not custom they are slapping them together as fast and probably cheap as they can.

I have never seen anything that would make me want a gun built by them. Having a TV show means nothing to me about how well you build weapon. The Kris guy on the shot could not build a rubber band gun I would shoot.

 

checked with my local academy and yes they are going to sell them.
