Mc Cain was a crumb long ago....I contacted his office years ago and NEVER got a single response from anyone...And yet he's supposed to be on the side of the veterans...having been a POW and all...Well he's NOT all that, and a lot more.

im just amazed and a sickened that a former POW, a man who spent years in a POW camp against his will, would vote for the (unlawfull) rounding up and indefinate detainment of American citizens on American soil....
    Makes no sence at all.....

Dunno if you've all been updated. It passed the house, and the senate yesterday, it goes back to the house to approve the change in language and then it will either go back to Senate or to the President.

If the courts allow this bill is my question. If they do, our supreme court is totally compromised.

The courts won't see it until tested by suit. It's law, once signed by our liar in chief, and has to be enforced until the court finds it to be illegal.

So we have to wait till they start picking up citizens and sending them to be tortured at black sites? That's marvelous. In the meantime...don't say anything anti authoritarian.

The question arises, how does the word get out that citizens are being scooped up?

Also...if they can "legaly" detain a citizen without charges and without council indefinatly.....how can it be brought before the courts? I mean, say one of your family members gets scooped up, the civilian cops cant do anything and those that can are bound by "national security measures" so they wont give out any info.
    What do you do?

Not a liar-in-chief 'bout everything, he did promise 'change'. I hope those who voted for him will be the first scooped up and handed the change they asked for.

The ones that voted are his sheeple and will cower down and do as he want's. We will be the targets any free man that does not agree with the fuher. We will pay the price for the fight for freedom

at what point do you fight back? when they come for your niebors or when they come for you? and will it get that far before the military says hell no!

The cops never refuse to line up in riot gear to abuse citizens, why would the military be any different? Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't police officers take a similar oath to defend the constitution? The cops aren't refusing to do what they're told no matter the level of abuse they're instructed to mete out. On what basis do you make the assumption that the military will?

Just a few bad apples? Really? That's funny? Honorable? Respectable?

Besides, the bill in question tries to make it legal for the military to do the detaining. For the vast majority of people, legality seems to be all the moral guidance they need to act. Are there enough OathKeepers to make a difference? I sure hope so but only time and circumstance will tell.

Not trying to bag on you, limpingbear, but I am curious as to why you think the military would put the brakes on the transition to a full on hardcore police state when our sworn protectors at home don't seem to have a problem with it.

I can answer that for you Byte....

Simply because the US Officer Corps, takes their Oath of Office seriously, and MANY are already ON RECORD, that they would refuse, or resign, before they violated that Oath. I, as a reTIRED Federal Agent, took that same Oath, with just the Military Branch Name, replaced by the Name of my Federal Agency. I was sworn in by the local USCG District Commanding Admiral, because there was no other Official of REQUIRED Rank, available. LEOs may, or may not, have that same DUTY, and Responsibility, DRILLED into them in, like in the Service Academies, and Officer Candidate Schools. For Many LEOs, it is just a Job, for the Military Officer Corps, it is a Lifestyle, and Profession. .... YMMV.....

The problem remains. Those that take the oath know that they do not have to obey an illegal order, but seldom do they get any guidance about what an illegal order can be. This is especially true of enlisted military, less so in the officer corps. That little omission in training will cause great trouble if one refuses to obey what is actually a legal order.

there would be a significant portion of the military that would follow orders without question. these are mostly the newer younger kids that dont no any better. Now i think most of the older more experianced troops could tell the difference between an unconstitutional order and this blasphemous garbage.
i spent 14 years active and served with a lot of fine people, that i know have the integrity to tell the powers that be to stick it.
And also realize that if they started rounding people up en-mass that some of those doing the rounding up would realize that the people being detained could be thier own friends and family.
Now all that being said.....i could be completely wrong and we are all really screwed. But i have to hope....

It goes into conference committee where they hammer out the differences between HR1540 passed in May with S1867 passed yesterday.

Heaven only knows what else is gonna happen in there. I'll be watching for the final wording in this 'Must Pass' legislation as I am quite concerned about the ramifications that this bill poses.

Typically, the ball-less wonders in both chambers quickly vote yea on the item coming out of conference (but there is a chance they might get a spine and vote nay, but I doubt it).

And off to the president for his signature. He had stated that he'd veto the bill. Let's see if he has the balls to stick to it as it does give him additional powers to detain us just cause he says we are terrorists.

These are indeed dark days my simian friends. I'm thinking about jumping the border to go visit weegrannymush.
