All upset and angry--our smaller freezer died. In the process it too 4 gallons of blackberries, 5 gallons of strawberries, several #s of venison/beef/pork, and a few other goodies that hide in freezers. Going with an upright this time. Not as efficient but a lot easier to keep up with things.

i forgot to add the small 1.pd sized propane cylinder's to the list .I going to make another supply run this month because of having a feeling that this year weather is not going to be a good one for the southwest .

Not so much as what I put away, but what I've LOST (no, not my mind I lost that years ago). In the last 5 weeks I've lost 12lbs, cut my triglycerides in 1/2, lowered my cholesterol, and raised my good cholesterol.

Sucks to be on a restricted diet, but with heart disease in my family and my triglycerides have almost always been off the scale high I decided I had to do something. Hopefully by Thanksgiving I'll have lost between 25 & 30 lbs and be in much better shape for prepping and my family.

No, the last time I went on one I had such a bad reaction I swore I would never take one again. Ever had a sun burn over 100% of your body? That's what it was like when I was on the meds. Dr. just said "take it at bed time", yeah right.

I have tried and tried to loose weight, finally found something that works for me. It's from a book called The Metabolism Miracle. The diet is similar to the Atkins diet, but with a gradual re-introduction of carbs so I can eat "normal" food again.

    1) A new .308Win bolt rifle.
    2) Another ten gallons of gas stored.
    3) Started the genny - realised I have gone too long since starting it last. Fueld it, checked oil - it cranked on 2nd pull and ran like a Timex. I run only non-E10 gas with Stabil Marine, and store it after running all the gas out.

I am about happier than a hound dog in a hubcap factory. My Chickens have been outproducing my expectations by a couple dozen eggs a week.
I thought we would be getting somewhere around 40-50 eggs a week with a dozen hens but we are getting closer to 65-70. I know this isnt "put away" but fresh food and food still on the hoof counts on this thread to me.

Me too. We had one of our cows calve last night and it had a heifer calf so our herd grew by 1. I kept telling the mama that if she had a bull calf I was going to fatten him then I was going to kill him and have a BBQ, so she better have a heifer. At this point I think she listens better than my daughter. ;)

Picked up a few more crank flashlights.

Interestingly, they are no longer hard to find and the price is dropping (just over $10 each).

Has anyone else found any preps that are getting easier to find and cheaper?

I dried all the onions/garlic from this year's harvest. At least I *think* it was all of them. Better be. Those onions are STRRRRRRRONG! Even just peeling/quartering them and shoving them in the food chopper was almost too much. Took me 2 or 3 days to do it all. Garlic took a while cause holding the cloves to slice/chop them, my fingers started burning. Also got 9 bolete/porcini 'shrooms drying right now...tomorrow I start dehydrating pears and plums...got some walnuts curing by the wood stove, gonna glean more of the fruit and nuts on Thursday. Oh wanna dry some apples too. The dried fruit I'm gonna use to flavor up my oatmeal :)
