My buddy and I were in the hunting lease Sunday, building our new treestands, and testing his new 4X4 truck - Ford F350 Diesel Crewcab - Great for The Big Guy! We also sighted in our deer rifles - my .30-30 bolt-action and his Remington Model Seven in .308Win. That Remmy was shooting great! Then Bob, that sorry SOB..... makes me an offer I couldn't refuse - I now own that Model Seven! Bob has an identical rifle in 7mm-08 that he prefers, and another in 7mm <somekindashortMagnum>. They had logged out a lot of the mature pines from our lease, so our shooting distances are greater, and the Thutty-thutty may be hard-pressed to do the longer shots. Now, it won't be a problem! This rifle has taken Bob's last seven deer - so I know it'll do the job! If I miss, it's ME! Nice rifle.... camo synthetic stock, 20" fluted barrel, Titanium Nitride finish, 2.75-10 Burris scope. Weighs like a .22 rifle! But recoil isn't bad - we were shooting 168 grain loads. I have a box of 150 grain Rem Core-Lokt and a box of 180 grain Winchesterr Power Point loads, but need to do some handloading. Already have what I need, except bullets! I have been handloading 7.62X51 for some time for my military rifles. I'm jazzed - this is a NICE rifle!
Remington make a good rifle, I've been wanting a 308 and have looked at a few. I curently use a lever action 30/30 can't be beat as a bush gun.
I bought a Remington Model 700 in .243 a few months ago and finally this last Thrusday I had a chance to sight in the scope. At 100 yards it took me four rounds to hit the 10 ring. I am amazed at how accurate this rifle is! I love it.
Wolf sounds like a good one ,Rem has always made a great rifle ,I have a 308 built on a 98 rec. that I like but I hunt with a 303 Brit that I cut down the barrel on to 16 1/2" it's taken them out to 350-400 yds.in the right of ways around here. I know you'll be happy with it for many years >
Seawolf1090, You will enjoy, guarantee it! Agreed, I have a cut checkered R700 and a lot more modern one and they both shoot right well.
You will love that model seven,I have been toting one around the deer woods for over 20 years. It would be the last gun I would ever sell,I might give it to one of my sons though.
