Mmmmmm, reminds me of the Boston Baked Beans (using kidney beans) we made back in Mass. when I was a kid.

Kidney beans are seriously good! Great flavor.

Stacked about 20 feet of firewood about 5 feet high and have about three times that much more to cut/split/stack. Cut it on "light nights" in Feb. (Jan. is better). Been killing Squash bugs in the raised beds. We put up nearly five gallons of strawberries--sure hate to see the plants quit producing. Have paths bush hogged in the black berry patches-almost ready to pick. Getting the rear covered patio cleared off to put a hot tub in. Can be used for water storage--LOL. Thornless black berry plants have a few berries-planted last fall. Six new fig bushes even have a few already-just tickled. Best peach and pear crop ever-have four dehydrators just waiting.

Got 1 bushel of Peaches and 20lbs of blue berries today. Also picked up some "tattler" reusable canning lids.

Made a small batch (7 1/2pints) of blueberry jam to try out the tattler lids, it was also my first solo attempt at jam

Gonna get some dry ice to freeze some of the blueberries so that they don't turn to mush, the rest will either be frozen for smothies or turned into jam.

The peaches will be canned (as slices, jams and peach butter).

I've been going out at dawn and dusk every day lately to pick blueberries, blackberries, and early ripening raspberries from my bushes. I should have a few gallons at least but half are in my belly so my preps are suffering from my glutony

Bought some extra canned food. I am at about a month's worth of preps, 2 if the electricity stays on and I can use what's in the freezer.

Also I've started a cookbook collection. I go to thrift stores or antique shops and find them on sale. Got a good one this weekend for $4, called the New Storz Cookbook. Published in 1957, 416 pages. Looks like a lot of good traditional home cooking. The irony was that this book sold for $5 back in 1957.

Your cookbook is a rather hot item online at $20 to $25. So I would say you got a good deal. In fact if it were me, I might be tempted to copy every recipe that struck my fancy, and then sell it for $25.... jmho

Hah! I found and bought a bushhog for my newly acquired tractor. Used in great shape for about half the price of new.
    .
Now I only still have to find: a harrow drag, a box blade, and a disc cultivator.
