Just found this and thought some of you may be interested. Looks like it may be far better then some of those "kits" everyone is always talking about http://www.facebook.com/pages/Hurricane-Wind-Power-Wind-Turbine-Technologies-LLC/146553008723813
A google search turned up this, Rip-off Report | Hurricane Wind Power Wind Turbine Technologies LLC | Complaint Review: 654802
I just went to the link above, read all the post's and don't see any problem so far. Does look like extortion from the site to me. But you be the judge of that.
Err, it turns out Ripoff Report is a rip off, however, someone posting as the Company Owner sure doesn't show his good side in the thread. If it was such a great product, he would have sold the rights by now. Doesn't appear to be a great company.
Since this is a brand new item/development , I would't be to quick to judge it. I would say, lets give it a little time and see what happens.
There is just ONE thing to remember about these Human Powered Generators. It is a well documented FACT, that a Human can only output about 100 Watts on a Continuous Basis. This means that if you can sit on your bicycle, connected to this thing, and pedal for one Hour, the BEST Bicycle Riders can get 100 WattHours of energy. In the Vids, you will notice that the kid couldn't even keep the lightbulb continuously lit at a constant Brightness, and had a hard time cranking for more than a few minutes. Yea, he put a battery in the Toolbox, but he NEVER showed how much work was required to recharge that battery from a 50% discharge state. AND THAT FOLKS, is the REAL Issue Here. Even an OLD Fudd like "Me" can produce 100 Watts for a few minutes, but to recharge that Battery, is going to take more than I can do, in any reasonable timeframe. ..... YMMV....
Hi Bruce. Just think though, guys like you and me, lets say a couple of pounds kinda sorta overweight could maybe really benifit from something like this mounted to a bike. Besides, what else you going to do all winter ? LOL
