In today"s "Christian " churches we've learned that God and Lord and Jesus Christ are all examples of who we honor and worship and claim as being holy powers worthy of our prayers and faith.
The question I pose ,are these truly the correct names and titles that we should be using ?Is the correct use of a name or title really all that important ?
Does our creator, heavenly Father ,care what we call him and will he answer our prayers and needs regardless of the titles?

i find it totally hilarious that a god that is sposed to be above and beyond paganism
cannot have a name that we know becuz in paganism, knowing ones name
gives you power over them
if he was really a god, no one, mortal or otherwise, could exercise any power over him
something to think about :)

What do you like to be called ,by your rightfull title or one that someone has made up and which way do you respond too the quickest ?
Those that truly know you and have a close relationship with you call you by your name.

you are comparing metaphysical apples and oranges which make no nevermind... the jews called him yahwe did he give them this name or did they simply make it up?when we use the term God it's generally generic... your whole discussion seems to lack any appreciable merit.... I answered your question... If when you die the mere term that you called your supreme being should not matter ... fact it could be incomprehensible and unpronouncable to us.... so why try to start up an argument?

When/if I am properly introduced, directly and not thru some man's scribblings, I'll address Him accordingly. Until then, this is a waste of good server space.

Why do we have "The LORD" in our bibles rather than Yahweh?

This is a very common question. It all began with a Jewish tradition called the "ineffable name" doctrine. Jews, for various reasons, started to substitute His name with the Hebrew title "Adonai". Adonai is the Hebrew word for "Lord". This information can be easily verified in many Bible dictionaries and various encyclopedias. For instance, the Encyclopedia Britannica states:
Yahweh, the God of the Israelites, his name being revealed to Moses as four Hebrew CONSONANTS (YHWH) CALLED THE TETRAGRAMMATON. AFTER THE EXILE (6TH CENTURY BC), and especially from the 3rd century BC on, Jews ceased to use the name Yahweh for two reasons. As Judaism became a universal religion through its proselytizing in the Greco-Roman world, the more common noun elohim, meaning "god," tended to replace Yahweh to demonstrate the universal sovereignty of Israel's God over all others. At the same time, the divine name was increasingly regarded as too sacred to be uttered; it was thus replaced vocally in the synagogue ritual by the Hebrew word Adonai ("My Lord"), which was translated as Kyrios ("Lord") in the Septuagint, the Greek version of the Old Testament.
We see in the above quote that Jews started to vocally replace the name "Yahweh" with "Adonai" (Lord) for two reasons:
1. It was beginning to be believed that His name was too sacred to be uttered
2. They preferred to simply call Him "Elohim" rather than "Yahweh" to demonstrate to the world that He is the only true Elohim.
While on the surface these reasons may seem honorable, they are very unscriptural. They were and are attempts to improve on Yahweh's already perfect ways. If Yahweh really wanted a substitute, why would He have placed His name there to begin with? Though scripture says to follow Yahweh rather than man, we find that nearly 7,000 times the most important name of all is replaced with a another word that man has chosen.
This tradition was not practiced by the Messiah or the apostles, but it was adopted by some Christians during the early half of the 2nd Century CE/AD. By the 4th century, this practice was well established and widely practiced. Jerome, a 4th century "Church Father" who authored the Latin Vulgate version, substituted the name "Yahweh" throughout with the Latin word "Dominus" (meaning "Lord"). The tradition of replacing Yahweh's name with "the LORD" continues to this day. Most English translations substitute the name Yahweh with "the LORD" and translations into other languages will also commonly choose a title meaning "Lord" in their own language. More information on this can be found in the preface of many modern bibles.

Transliteration study on the Name of the Messiah yod-hay-uau-shin-ayin
While studying the true Name, remember: Yahusha (or Yahushua) isn't a Christian, and His Name isn't based on Greek, but Hebrew. "HESUS" is a Hebrew term, meaning "the horse" spelled hay-samek-uau-samek. The KJV was the first to show the world the spelling "JESUS". 216 times, we find it spelled in the TaNaK: yod-hay-uau-shin-ayin
YAHU + SHA is the English transliteration of the above 5 Hebrew letters.
Charles Darwin didn't even know cells existed in his time, and the apostles didn't know the word "JESUS" existed in theirs. The word "JESUS" had not been "discovered" until around 1530 CE (cells are real, but the word "JESUS" was not discovered, but rather invented).

Told by Whom? is the question you need to be asking.... All of your documents have been written, researched and translated by MAN.... hence all of your names have been designed by.... MAN...

He's done a good job answering mine without being too upset over something this trivial ...

I think that you kind of answered yourself. Jehovah isn't a name or a word, it's a description. Roughly translated, it means "the existing one" or "Lord". We are referring to Him in our language, not the language of someone else.

Are we to refer to the all-knowing God in Hebrew only? After all, He is all-knowing. Are we to only pray in Hebrew? If He only knows His name in Hebrew, will He only know my prayer in Hebrew? Ridiculous argument.

Like WD said, this is trivial. God knows my heart and knows me personally. He is not as trivial as to need us to utter His name or refer to Him in a different language. This bordering on Islam fundamentals.

(Note I said Jehovah not yehôvâh. The reason is clear- its a transliteration. Most people have no idea how to pronounce yehôvâh in its straight translation. I don't believe God cares how you write it either. He knows you and knows your heart.)

A lot of this Torah and Law stuff you keep bringing up can be furthered explained in old Faith v. Law debate. This draw to justify oneself in the eyes of God is because one isn't walking in Faith. That was necessary before Jesus. Where was the strict approach before Jesus? It can be summed up in the hypocrisy of the Pharisees. That's where this path culminates. That is NOT where a Christian should be. Jesus is clear on this point... what matter is where your heart is. Christian maturity doesn't end with following the Law. Otherwise, there would be no need for Jesus to Hebrews.

Call Him what you wish. He knows who you are talking to. Don't elevate yourself over others because they call Him something different. Alienating other Christians will negate anything you may/may not gain from calling Him
yehôvâh. The second most important commandment "Love the neighbor as thyself" comes to mind. The liberty in these sort of things is summed up in 1 COR 10:31:
Whatever you call Him, do it to His glory.

Why am I elevating myself by trying to introduce and explain proper names and titles. Is the scripture and explanations in error....?

If I'm hearing you correctly you know that there 's another or correct name as Yah told Moses and yet you refuse to acknowledge that title because your GOD is not that trivial, correct?
-- My father is that demanding ,you see even the pagan gods have titles and names and he demands to be set apart and not confused with other idols and if there are believers who never hear any differently you bet he'll never neglect them ,However those that have heard the difference and laugh it off ,who knows !
so what we're picking and choosing another commandment to ignore because why ,it just too what silly or jewish ,unimportant or ...?
Exodus 20

1And God spake all these words, saying,
6And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
7Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
This is what your proposing ,bring his name to naught, nothing ,don't destroy my name and replace it with a lie
Vain
From the same as H7722 in the sense of desolating; evil (as destructive), literally (ruin) or morally (especially guile); figuratively idolatry (as false, subjectively), uselessness (as deceptive, objectively; also adverbially in vain): - false (-ly), lie, lying, vain, vanity.
Lord

יהוה

God
H430
אלהים
'ĕlôhı̂ym
el-o-heem'
Plural of H433; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative: - angels, X exceeding, God (gods) (-dess, -ly), X (very) great, judges, X mighty.
We have to remember when the OT was written it would have been in hebrew or aramic and his name was written ,not in the english and even the letter J didn't come about till about 500 yrs ago.

I choose to have a very direct ,intimate relationship with my creator and the first step in any relationship worth having is to know your partners ,spouse, friends name wouldn't you agree ?I got remarried several years ago and I chose to call my new wife by her proper title and not my ex wife's name, smart on my part right ?
I'm addressing those here who might feel that names especially to our heavenly father might be important .These old habits are hard to break ,I know from experience Just know our Elohim does expect and demands to be set apart ,scripture tells me that much, not mans traditions or view..

That wasn't a jab, just a generalized statement. When bickering begins over unimportant things, we are distancing our Brothers. The scripture is not an error, but when we add things to it that aren't there, we create error.

This is only a concern if one worships pagans or idols. In that case, God wishes to be set apart. Its not by calling Him Jehovah. You are completely missing the point... the point is don't call other idols God, because they aren't. From 1 COR 8:
An idol is nothing to me, because there is but one God. By distinguishing a name for God, you are acknowledging that there are idols or other gods.... which I think neither of us believe. In context, what you quoted above is relative to the Israelites that lived in a time of many idols and false gods. In that case, there needed to be a distinction. What Moses was to call God was because of the Mosaic Covenant. I live in a different time and by a different covenant.

As do I. Since there are no other gods or idols that I worship, when I drop to one knee and start "God..." He knows exactly whom I am talking to. You are applying a humanistic approach to God in that you are comparing His understanding and feeling with a human's.... while your ole' lady may be upset at calling her an ex, God will not be upset at you acknowledging there is only one God and He is it. Would your wife be upset if you called her "wife"? She is the only wife in your life, right?

I will leave this with the same verse I posted for one of your other threads (HEB 8:13):
I think this draw toward following a covenant that was made for a specific people in a specific time doth not apply. Not that we shouldn't study the Old Testament, but what we need to know about living a Christian life is found in the New Testament under the New Covenant.

ETA: I will add one more point. If one was to look up the original Greek manuscript for the Letter to the Romans, you will not find Jehovah or Yaweh anywhere in there. What you will find is "theos" used for God. Why is it that not only do we NOT find instructions on what to call God in the New Testament, but we do find other lingual names for a deity when referring to Him? I'll tell you why... because to Paul, there is only one God (or one theos). That God is also Yaweh. Sam for the early Roman church. Hence why it doesn't matter.

Technically, for your argument, you should take the vowels out and use the proper Hebrew translation "YHWH". But since the word was never written in English letters by Moses maybe you should stick with typing it as יהוה

It's obvious that you and the others here have a love and faith for God and that's never in question ,I tried to type several responses and deleted them ,because it was me answering you and not the Father.

I listened to the audios and I hear what you are saying. The issue with the law is this- it was created in order to keep man clean. So, the question I have is this...

Are we not washed in the blood? Does His sacrifice make us clean?

From the audios, the point being made is there is no need for a High Priest because now we have Jesus... perfection. That I agree with. Unfortunately, Paul (generally believed to be the author of Hebrews) didn't say the "high priest" is obsolete. He said the "covenant" is obsolete. In context, the high priest is the topic of discussion, but you cannot ignore the fact that he says the covenant (the whole thing, not just the high priest) is obsolete. Once washed in the blood, there is no need to attempt to "cleanse one's self" because cleanliness is a gift. All you have to do is accept it. Take, for instance, your earlier thread on pork. Consider Peter's dream in Acts 10:
Jesus has done away with the ceremonial law. There is no reason for Peter to avoid what Jesus has made clean.

Let me clarify things a bit. There are three types of laws in the old testament. The ones you keep bringing up are from one of the sets that no longer apply, primarily the ceremonial law.

Ceremonial Laws- These are the ones you keep dwelling on. For you to pick and choose certain ceremonial laws, like how Jews are supposed to relate to God, you would have to follow all of the ceremonial laws by this logic. Is building a Tabernacle necessary for a Christian? That is part of the ceremonial laws. Unclean animals fall under this as well. You need to read Acts 10 and Romans 14. There are numerous New Testament scriptures that show that eating is ok.

Civil Laws- These would hardly do very well in our time. Thinks like eye for an eye or stoning homosexuals. These are set aside by the "turn the other cheek" forgiveness that Jesus demonstrated and then the "let he without sin cast the first stone". This one is overlooked by people like Westboro Baptist.

Moral Laws- These still apply. We aren't picking these for no good reason. The moral laws (think 10 commandments) are covered in the Greatest Commandment in Matt 5:17-19. Jesus actually strengthened these.

Back to Romans 10, Paul shows us that some people are not far enough in faith to understand that Jesus is what makes us clean. Its not the food we eat or what language we refer to Him. Its faith in Him.
