Well Momma and I decided today was the day to go reCycle all our winters worth of glass containers. We do this by, loading the Glass Bin into the Rhino, along with all the Firearms, in the Weapons Locker, their respective ammunition, Hearing Protection, and head on down to the Dock. It was an incoming tide, with the distance from the dock to the water of about 20 feet. Loading up the weapons took about 5 minutes, and chucking the first dozen bottles out as far as possible, another minute or two. Now we were ready to brush up on our Marksmanship skills. I can say with confidence, that we were "One Shot, One Kill" pretty much for ANYTHING inside 50 yds, with the Handguns, and pretty much ANYTHING inside 100 Yds for the Rifles. All shooting was Off Hand, except for shots over 150 Yds. We only had ONE "Hines 57" Bottle get away, and he will be back in 8 hours. Try as I might, I couldn't bring him down, once he was over 250 Yds away, even with the 30M1 Carbine. I really need that DMPS .308 with the 24" Chrome lined Barrel. There was just a bit of a North Wind blowing against the tide, and that made for about a 1 foot chop, so the glass, bobbed and weaved in the chop, pretty good. Other than the wind, it was a Blue Sky, Sunshine, CAVU Day at about 47F. One of those days that let us know why we live here. Just finished servicing the Weapons, and returning them to the Weapons Locker, before I logged on. All in all, a GREAT Day at the Old Shoot'en Range..... YMMV....
Yep, I certainly am not diving down to the bottom of the Inlet, (60 Fathoms) to collect it, as that is the whole point of recycling the Shattered Glass back into Ocean Sand, via tidal action, from whence it came, in the first place.
Well, at least it was deep water. I hate shooting glass. Dangreous mess. Had a former buddy insisted on doing it and not cleaning up after himself, so I shot the bottles out of his hands at 25 yds. He never did it again.
When you mean 'former' did you have a shot go wide and send him to the great beyond? I mean seriously, you pointed a gun (loaded or not) at a friend and pulled the trigger ????
Strawman. I didn't aim at him, I aimed at the bottle. The scare I gave him was far better than the beating the others were going to give him. Besides, everyone else thought it funny.
used to be a public swimmin hole near me, really nice place until someone started usin it as a dump for broken beer bottles
and not at any bottles, directly at the weapon in his hand.... and at 25 Yds I would not have missed...... You shot at "Me", you are going to DIE, just as fast as I can return Fire....
