Almost jumped in and did it, 'till I saw that TR was doing something with his CP. Glad I waited. +1 for task11 and apprentices. No current issues here other than intermittently needing to reload the main page to update the shoutbox. (But that existed before the migration.)
I still cannot edit the Sausage recipes thread post that I started. Once I hit save there is almost a 2 minute delay, while the green completion bar at the bottom of the page moves about 40% of the way towards completion. Then the screen jumps to http 403 forbiden message. Bah freakin humbug! I erased all cookies and tried again. same result! All I am trying to do is add a note behind, Maple Breakfast Sausage that says, ... TXKajun rates this one "Outstanding!" I have tried to do this now a total of about 6 times. I give freakin up!
tac, have you tried to edit another thread that was authored by you? Every time something you are doing causes an error, the system logs it and that's how it can be found, identified and fixed.
Thank you, wise and gracious Master.... ps: I have more tact and patience than anyone here. And the reason is ....................................................................... wait for it ............................................ I HAVE NEVER USED ANY OF EITHER! . . Wax on, Wax off, Wax on, Wax off, ...... I will strive to improve oh wise one.
Hi - I seem to be unable to post large chunks of text, although I can start new messages or make small replies to existing messages. Thanks Chris
Chris - Here is a list of error codes. - List of Internet Error Codes . What internet error codes means | Tech,Fun,This n That at www.Hem.com.np I think you said that you were getting 503, which is "out of resources." Meaning, I think, that the text you tried to insert is too extensive. melbo will set us straight on this, but it is more than possible that the new server has limits that didn't exist on the old one. I think that can be tuned up. In the meantime, you could try splitting the chapter in half, and see if you hit the same limits. Not so sure that would be worth the time until melbo gets back on line later.
Chris, How large is large? We may have to change a few settings that deal with max post size, etc. Are you getting an error message or is it just timing out? edit: The vBulletin setting has not changed and we have a max post character limit of 160000.
I'm getting an error message - the chapters are around 18000 characters. I tried posting half a chapter and that failed too. Chris
Since the new Likes feature went into effect, I can't post from my (dinosaur) home computer anymore(at the library now). It keeps saying there needs to be more than 3 characters in my posts, no matter how long I make them.
What Internet browser are you using? I tend to think it may be our move to the new server rather than the likes feature.
IE 6(computer won't handle IE 8). It was fine at first, but the post I made a few nights ago around 8:30pm, that was the last time it let me post at home.
There have been a lot of problems reported with IE6 and our forum software lately. It seems that many of the sub programs that run what you see here do not take IE6 into account anymore. I've opened a support ticket to see if anyone can help us. In the meantime, have you ever tried another browser? FireFox is very popular with many but Google Chrome is very lightweight and is handled well by older computers. Mozilla | Firefox web browser & Thunderbird email client Google Chrome - Get a fast new browser. For PC, Mac, and Linux
Yeah I looked into those months ago, but they're still too 'new' for our home computer. Hope to earn enough this year to buy one. Don't mind the library, like chatting with the librarian who is our neighbor. It just isn't the same when I can't be in my PJs and drinking/eating what I want while I'm on the computer.
