I know that some people may not have a Demonoid account, but if you keep trying, registration will be open from time to time. I use VUZE as my primary torrent program.
You ought to put together a Torrents 101 for those that don't know how to do this. BTW, I have the Mother Earth News collection. Good stuff.
Thanks Brokor...awesome stuff! If anyone needs the torrent files from Demonoid, just post the address and I'll upload you direct torrent file.
Good idea. TORRENT GUIDE (101) 1. Download your choice of torrent client. I suggest VUZE since it is free, has a built in virus scanner, and is generally decent with few to no ads, and can be upgraded to a paid version for little extra. It's dependable and frequently updated (formerly Azureus). Download here: Vuze: The most powerful bittorrent app on earth. 2. After installation, please check your settings and firewall to ensure the torrent program functions. Vuze comes with plenty of material and instructions to assist you. Set your desired "up" and "down" speeds by going to TOOLS in the toolbar of the program. I recommend only altering "mode", "connection", "transfer", "files", and "queue" unless you are familiar with torrent sharing. Leave it all on default if you are unsure. 3. You will need a decent torrent location online to find files being shared. One place I recommend is Demonoid: LINK HERE --> Demonoid.com They will not always have registration open to the public, and you will most likely have to keep checking back periodically or have a member invite you once it is open. There are other torrent share websites available, but you will have to find those on your own. 4. You may also "create" your own torrents with the Vuze program. After you create the torrent, you will need to host the tracker, and Demonoid does this for you with their own, easy to use torrent share tool on their website once logged in. You may also host the tracker on your own if you choose to with your own server. INFO: A torrent is a specially encoded file which links the original shared file that exists somewhere in cyberspace with all the others who have downloaded it by means of tracking. If your torrent program is not running, you will not be sharing (also called "seeding") the files you download. You must also keep the files downloaded in the root directory you originally download them to or else they will not seed to others. It is entirely up to you whether you wish to "seed" or not. Alternatively, you could just delete the torrent tracking file and leave the downloaded media as this will also terminate the sharing process. The idea behind a torrent is that the download operates faster if there are more people seeding the file, hence the term "torrent". If there are very few people, and if they have their max upload speed set low, the torrent will take a longer time to complete. Essentially, torrent sharing is entirely dependent upon the user base to function. IMPORTANT: Some people may choose not to use a torrent share program due to ISP restrictions and local laws, and I do not (nor does SurvivalMonkey) take responsibility for the action of others. It is basically a "use at your own risk" enterprise. Pirating copyrighted property is not exactly a best option or a completely legal operation. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
I do strongly caution people not to use torrent programs and download copyrighted material. However, if you are set on using this method, I do recommend using a VPN to safely download what you may want. One of the very best and affordable services on the web is Trust Zone. Link to VPN: Trust.Zone - The One To Rely On! - Trusted VPN Service You will have to pay money to use a VPN, but it's worth it for the security reasons involved. I won't recommend anybody should break any laws, and the corporations really do come after you if you are downloading copyrighted media, but I believe it's fair to at least inform you about what your choices may be. Some people use VPN's exclusively to access the web securely without breaking any laws because it's completely safe and your ISP cannot see what you're doing.
