What is a good "I don't care if it gets stolen" gun?

I don't think the government should have anything at all to do with owning firearms. I do think that responsibility should fall onto the person that chooses to own and use them.

 

Absolutely. But when things get so bad that locking my car and keeping said gun out of sight is not enough... Well, I'm going to opt to remaining armed.

 

Did I miss something about "for ccw" or did the topic of the break open single shot12ga come and go with a laugh??50-100 bucks ammo in most hardware stores...

 

Hi Point pistols are useless - jamomatics. Their 9mm carbine, on the other hand, is pretty decent.

 

I'm not looking for a fight but; Sorry, not real sure how you can argues with :"Get a good gun and learn to use it properly, carry it responsibly, and secure it safely when not in use or rely on 911";

If its in the car and you're not, its not going to help you if/when you need it ?

If you have a chance to get to your car you are no longer in imminent danger. You drive away.(??))
not grab your gun; go back..
if you are in the car you are in control of a 10,000lb weapon. With the capability of rapid escape..

I want to keep something in the trunk of my car within a "get home bag".
Cheap is the bottom line.

He took the phrase "I don't care if it get's stolen" too literally and turned it into a conversation about the ethics of securing a firearm vs. personal safety. An entirely different subject.

Let me rephrase: "Do you have any suggestions for a cheap (meaning affordable) gun?"

Makesa a little more sense from the stored "ghb"aspect in that case theres no "immediate" need. an ammo can toolbox or safe bolted to the floor or frame for better storage. (or rent a locker or "you store"). take it apart and keep an important part or in your pocket or hide the recoil spring somewhere else in the car. ..Put the slide in a plastic bag in the air filter housing.

Definitely an interesting convo. (how secure vs. how available), but I'd like to keep this to "Good cheap guns".

Went by Ed's, the police distributor I mentioned a few pages back, to pick up a DW CCO I had transferred in and they had glock 40 s&w police trade ins as low as 329, ones that had minimal carry marks were 349.

Here's something scary, there were a couple of the trade ins that you literally couldn't tell the difference between the trade in and the NIB ones in the next case.

I'm sure a lot of the other guns listed are fine but to get a glock for $329 in todays market is a great deal.

I don't want any gun I have stolen but I'm not going to own something that's not reliable just because I think it may get stolen and cheaped out.

It simply has to go bang 100% of the time with an effective caliber and hit in a vulnerable fight stopping area. or you are going to die embarassed,hobbling bent over with a crudely polished polish or czech piece of steel up your rectum...All it Takes is one failure. Or amI being overly dramatic simply to hear my own words???( clue: wouldn't be the first time).IMHO A self defense gun has one purpose: to prevent grave injury or imminent death to oneself or another.

 

Agreed, but high price doesn't always mean quality. Look at some of the police S&W revolvers offered for $299.
