Honeysuckle, also know as woodbine as a fire starter..

An old fella was telling me about how good honeysuckle bark is as a fire lighting tinder so today i gave it a try for the first time.

I cut some old dead honeysuckle and stripped the bark off, then broke up small twigs and then the larger ones including the debarked twigs.

I lit the bark with my ferro rod and was surprised how easy it took, two strikes and it was alight.

I just added the small twigs and the the larger ones and it burned real well.

So thanks to that old fella today ive found a new tinder for fire-lighting.

All the summer days I spent suckling the sweetness..... never thought/knew of it making good tinder.

Sir Raymondo did one using wild grape vine, looks very similar but a bit thinner.
