I am a fourth generation oily and I like to reflect that in what I drive, how I dress, and now even in the weapon I carry. Black Gold is a theme I try to go with and Black Ostrich Skin Boots and accessories are sort of my trademark. I even have a black Ostrich skin steering wheel cover in my truck. This is my newest sidearm. Springfield Armory 1911-A1 Target model .45 in black stainless with custom German silver grips with gold plated scroll work. I plan on using this as my more formal carry gun. I have a micro-compact .45 for everyday carry but this will be my dressed up Sunday-go-to-meetin gun. I ordered the grips for it from a guy in San Antonio and the Black ostrich skin holster, belt, and mag carrier are from El Paso Saddlery. The grips don't come across as shiny in my pics as they really are. Haven't recieved the holster set yet. Not too sure about the target sight yet. May change it out for a low mount.
I ain't gonna say a word about you chasing down and shooting some Dallas Pimp to steal his gun.... no way, not ever, not me. Maybe I am just jealous that I have not the extra money to spare for rig like that....lol. So I will behave and say SWEET !!!
LOL @ tac! Yeah it would feel right at home in the hood. Oilmen and pimps have a lot in common when it comes to fashion sense. It was a splurge for sure but I have worked a lot of overtime lately and I always try to buy something special when I do. Makes the extra days away from home worthwhile. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. Looking forward to seeing how these target sights are.
I had a characture of "The Perfect Oilman" and how to recognise them. It pointed out all the things to look for. Stetson hat Western shirt (pearl snap buttons only) Drill bit necklace Gold nugget jewelry Middle Eastern puzzle ring Western belt with name on it Big oilfield belt buckle Levi jeans (only cowboys wear Wranglers) Ostrich skin boots Been deported from one or more countries Banned for life from one or more airlines Drinks Crown Royal whiskey Been divorced a minimum of 2 times If he hasn't done it or seen it, he knows the ol' boy that has. .
I got to hold that in my hand the other evening over at E.L.'s and have to say that the pictures do not do it justice. She is as beautiful as she is lethal.
Yeesh. He went full Sunday go to meeting formal to EL's? Would have thought holey jeans, ripped T and a well flogged Sig.
Nothing official just a quick trip to the range to run some rounds through her. I don't know if it is the targt sights or what but I can tell that it is a lot more accurate than my other two Springfields. I shot some cans down at my range on my property and at 15 and 25 yds. I was dancing them all around the sand pile. I haven't had a chance to put up some paper and get a good feel for it yet. But preliminary testing looks good. I think she's a keeper.
It's Here, It's Here!! I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. My holster rig finally arrived today from El Paso Saddlery. Man, this thing is well worth the money. And the belt was a perfect fit. I have ordered belts and holsters on-line before and had them not fit me or not fit the weapon. Not from these folks. Everything was perfect.
A well dressed Oilman! I had to see how this would look with the rest of the ensemble!! Ostrich skin boots, check. Drill bit necklace, check. gold nugget jewelery, check. pressed levi's, check. wrangler shirt with pearl buttons, check. Ostrich skin vest, check. Ostrich skin belt, holster and mag holder, check. Pistol with custom gold plated grips, check. Ready to hit the town!!!!!!!!
I don't like the silver buckle and keepers but I have found Monatana Silversmiths have them gold plated that will fit this belt. So I am going to order them. I am going to have more in the holster rig than in the pistol! After looking at the pics I am thinking, (Oh God somobody stop me!), of having the syderco knife and the spare mag gold plated. Hmmm... The thought keeps going through my mind, If I lived in the old west would they have called me a "Dandy", or maybe a "Dude"? I am going to see if my Bud E.L. will babysit her for me when I jump the pond. And I don't mean let her sit in the safe and be lonely. You would have to take her out once and awhile and exercise her!!!
With all that gold, you're going to need some protection. Glad to see you been able to replace some things after having to sell off some stuff. Congrats!
I would be honored. Me casa is su casa. That is one fantastic looking rig. I don't believe I have ever seen one that is nicer. I have the thicker and wider El Paso Saddlery belt, wear that one around for a while and let me know how you like it. I have been needing to pick up a thinner belt that would hold the weight of my Les Baer 1911 and be thin enough to wear with suit slacks.
