What mine does very well and the real reason I bought it was for the full metal case option to avoid big holes in the fur and or wasting what little meat some of the smaller critters have. http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l...acro/scenery/animals/guns/buckmt4-05020-1.jpg
With a HP yes...but with the FMC round (which I think only Winchester produces) I sometimes can't even find the entry or exit.
My Marlin 25MN is very tight shooting - head shots not a problem. It does not seem to care whether HP or soild, but CCI is best. It does NOT seem to care for the CCI/SPEER TNT load though. My other two .22WMR rifles are not as tight shooting - the Mossberg 640KD and Ithaca 49 single-shot. Fun though! And my little .22WMR handgun, the Tanfoglio TA76 - el cheapo grandaddy of the current Heritage Roughrider. Best shooting $25 gun I ever bought!
I got a NAA belt-buckle pistol in .22 mag; does that count? It doesn't shoot very accurately but makes noise and puts a hole in something standing around what I'm shooting at.
A riding/shooting buddy had one - he got to where he could pop soda cans at 10 feet. I could never shoot it -the whole gun would "stovepipe" in my big mitt! First shot, the muzzle jumps straight UP!
3 Marlins.... 1-640k, and 2 can't remember the models.....(25M's?) 1-stainless, with the laminated stock, 1-standard blued. Both are scoped, and have the rings that allow me to use iron sights for close in shooting. I can reach out a lot further, with more punch than my .22lr's.
You have to know how to shoot one of those beasts. Your left thumb cocks the hammer and then holds the gun down above the grip next to the hammer.
Been awhile since I'd sold the 640k, yup a Mossberg! Must have not been awake, or just missed puttin' that on there! I bought the Marlins due to their microgroove rifling...... Accurate rascals!
Hello! My cousin's favorite rifle is my Rossi M59. She thinks the pump action is more fun than a bolt action.Keep on posting Guys! Thanks!
Ruger's Single six, with the convertible cylinders. The .22 for plinkin' and the mag for totin' through the woods. Nothin' in those woods that little thing won't stop...eventually. Uh, I do use Win. HP's. There's nothing worth shooting, not willing to tear up some. "Friendly Fire, isn't".
My Marlin 25MN with a Burris full field scope does anything I could ever want from a rimfire, gives my 222 a run for the money in the accuracy dept at reasonable ranges.
I have a Marlin 25M that does a much better job on coyotes than my 22lrs do. The extra punch comes in handy on these larger varmints.
Speaking of the larger varmints, I have also seen what a 22WMR to the temple did to a house burglar walking out of a fellows house with all his guns in arms. No exit, puffed it up like a basketball.
I have both a Ruger 10/22 and a 77/22 Magnums with Green Mountain 17HMR barrels. I swap them around as needed. The 22 magnum is devastating on jack rabbits and the 17HMR is for sage rats. I buy the ammo a box at a time to spread the pain.
I had a Marlin 783 with a (4) four power scope .22 WRM 12 shot tube magazine. I shot a (5) five shot group at (75) seventyfive yards that I could cover with a dime. Best group I ever shot. XR750
