Dunno yet, suspect a poor ground in the starter circuit. Can't get to it without pulling bodywork. Maybe tomorrow.
Ground the ground ( switch ) side of the solenoid with a good test lead to ground.it should turn the starter( lets you know you are on the right track with chasing grounds). Don't forget to look at Safety interlocks ( SIDESTAND/ Neutral AND CLUTCH LEVER SWITCHES.) But you probably knew all that.
3.5 gallons gas (93) to 1.5 gallons Gives around 99 octane. It's easier then getting to the nearest 100 octane Sunoco a million miles away. Here's the math to compute the octane. Toluene is 114 octane. (Gallons_of_gas * Octane_of_gas) + (Gallons_of_toluene * 114) ____________________________________________ Total Gallons So in your case if you were to run it and want 95.6 octane, it's 4 gallons of your 91 gas to 1 gallon of Toluene. The math would be... 4 gallons of gas times 91 = 364 then get the sum of... 1 gallon of Toluene times 114 = 114 add 114 to 364 and divide it by the total gallons (the gas and Toluene) which is 5 (gallons). 114+364=478 divided by 5 = 95.6 octane. Mix in a gas can, not in the tank. Toluene can be ordered from hardware stores. Many places no longer stock it because more people were probably sniffing it then thinning paint with it. Or maybe too many using for octane boost. Who knows... So many other products to use for thinning I guess, etc. Now for the negative posters. Toluene is a by product of gas. Before you say it will ruin rubber o-rings, O2 sensors and this or that, bite your tongue. I said Toluene not Xylene. Xylene I would stay away from. Try it. I'm on my 3rd tankful with absolutely no issues. Bike runs like a top and actually seems to pull a little higher into the RPM range with the higher octane mix.
BOHICA! - Motorcycle deaths jump 150% - government wants to know why<!-- google_ad_section_end --> <HR style="COLOR: #ffffff; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff" SIZE=1 itxtvisited="1"><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message --><!-- google_ad_section_start -->(Article below my comments) I can see where this might end up... more push for helmet laws where there are none, push for stronger helmet laws where they already exist, more road side "safety checks", any other ways the government can come up with to protect us from ourselves and making our own choices. I know times are tough, but, please do whatever you can to support groups like ABATE, the AMA, or any other group which fights to protect the rights of motorcyclists. The below Article was in the Chicago Sun Times this past Sunday. "Motorcycle deaths jump 150% -- government wants to know why October 24, 2009 An acceleration in the number of motorcyclists dying on American roads has spurred the U.S. Federal Highway Administration to order a study to find out why. The four-year project, conducted with Oklahoma State University, will examine the factors that have contributed to a 150 percent increase in motorcycle fatalities -- from 2,100 to 5,300 a year -- between 1997 and 2008. Last year, motorcycle deaths were 14 percent of all roadway fatalities. Each crash will be dissected by analysts hunting for patterns, although experts say the growing toll is not a result of more motorcycles on the road. Road configurations, environmental conditions and rider skill levels will be examined. The last full study of motorcycle crashes was conducted in 1981, and the conclusions were that alcohol, lack of training and lack of helmets were largely to blame.
