    - I finally broke down and got a new SW radio from Amazon. (Voyager KA500 crank/solar)
    - 2 new batteries for my DVD cam ($30 total), which is a great deal. Have to film the zombie attacks, you know.
    - A new super lightweight 'emergency' sleeping bag to line my Halo sleeping bag, thus improving the thermal rating by 20 degrees and keeping my BOB ultra slim.
    - 2 'snap n tap' plastic grommet kits (Coughlan's) to repair tarps.
    - A C2 Centurion Surefire, and a Digital Ultra Surefire (free, shhh!)

    I haven't been keeping up, though. Must...get back...to the...states.

Bought a canoe! A Mad River Adventure 14 - load capacity 875 lbs. So I can fit it out as a possible BO boat - this thing is a real "SUV" among cheaper canoes. Local canoe/kayaking outfitter had their annual 'used boat sale', but I bought this one new - preferred the sand color over the used Adventure 14's red color. The sand blends with the lake and river grass.
My buddy pretty much 'raped' them on a mistaken pricing of another boat - a kayak. Price on it was $425 - shoulda been $1425! After a little 'discussion', they honored the displayed price. It was normally a $2000 kayak!
Now, I need to practice with it in the local lake, and work up some emergency/BO gear to keep in it.

And as always, bought more canned goods and TP! [rofllmao]

Picked up my '87 F150 over the weekend. Needs some engine work, but it runs. The truck "only" has 88k miles on it. I should still have lots of life left in it, providing I get some serious maintenance work done on it.
My list of "things that need fixin'"

    1) doesn't switch fuel tanks, runs on rear tank only.
    2) carb needs to be rebuilt (the truck sat for about 2 years without running)
    3) headlight switch is flaky for controlling the dash lights, may just need to clean the contacts.
    4) replace various hoses that show signs of dry rot (not gonna be fun to do)
    5) flush and fill the radiator (although, I almost did that coming home. The hose between the water pump & thermostat sprung a leak, ended up adding 10 qts of new AF, the system takes 16qts)
    6) body work, this will be the last thing I do, need to cut out some rusted spots and repair it.
    7) replace spark plugs and plug wires.

The engine is a small V-8, 351 5.8L. I know my dad wished he woulda got the next bigger gas engine, but oh well, gotta deal with what ya got!

I'll post pics when I can get them.

Well in scanning another forum, I stumbled on a source for trapping snares and plenty of info in using them. I ran small game furbearer traplines when a teen and even into 20's and was rather good at it. At least with Muskrats and Raccoons. Snares are silent, Cheap, and effective if properly positioned. Also illegal in more places than legal. But, all that said, I thought they would be quite benificial in providing meat in a post SHTF situation. I may experiment on a very limited basis here in my AO. my info and snare source is linked below.

    www.snare-trap-survive.com

I purchased an instructional DVD, a survival snare package, and components to make 100 snares later.

    I just bought these.

Four brand new nearly indestructable Gi Water Cans, desert sand in color at $16.99 each, tax free, shipping free, $67.96 Total, from LC Industries online.

    Super-tough military water cans available

    <HR style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff; COLOR: #ffffff" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->For anybody looking for a very well-made, strong and abuse-proof 5 gallon water container, here it is:

Brigade Quartermasters have these for $29.99 plus shipping.

But here's the best place to get them ($16.99, which includes shipping):

    http://www.buylci.com/

Click on "Shop As Guest" and then search for "water can".

The company at the link above has these in Sand and OD colors.

sand product number is 906396, olive drab product number is 600409

These water cans are SOLID, people. You can tell the first time you pick up an empty one. These are the same ones that our troops use -- down to the "Property of U.S. Government" markings on them (at the "redcheetah" link). They're brand new, not used.

You can never have too much water to drink.

everyone, i repeat everyone, had rave reviews for this product at the site where i stole this info. one guy accidentally left 4 of these full of water in an outside unheated shed in the NE winter for 4 months. Bulged and froze solid he thought he had thrown $67.96 down the toilet. Thawed out all was fine. He expects to hand them over to his grandkids someday.

When we had our MRAPS blown up by land mines in Iraq I would walk around and strip these water and diesel containers off of the (destroyed) trucks because our company was running so short on them. ;) We didn't bring enough on the mission, but I made sure we had enough.

    They are virtually indestructible.
