So i was invited to attend a shoot that is out of state, I am flying. What are the rules when crossing the state border with my new baby? I know the airline rules and I did a quick google search. I thnk im missing something. Anyone ever travel with a home made rifle? thanks
LOL! You needed to put identification information on the receiver the second you made it to be in compliance with the BATF regs. You need your name, the location where it was made, the date it was made and some sort of serial number. Usually when I build an AK, I just duplicate the original serial number on the newly made receiver.

ah well , it doesnt look like im going to get to attend the event. so im not going to bring her this year. But i am planning on trying to get to the range tommorrow to try her out. Will do my best to post a range report. Thanks to all for replying.
This is incorrect. You do NOT need to seralise a homebuild unless you wish to transfer it. If a cop was asking I'd just give them the SN on the front trunion. But Flying etc you shouldn't be asked.
That is what I was thinking, but I didn't have a resource available to verify it. Welcome back Nomad, you have been away for a while. Participated in any training lately?
I had read what nomad said but was still a little unsure, and i didnt really see TSA looking for a S/N anyway. I am going to try to make it to the event but will not be packing my tools to come with. thanks for all the help
Havn't been that far, I can read without logging on. Although I've been on here less, just popping in now and again. Went to the NTI, Missed a Sony AK class (Gave it to a buddy when I couldn't make it), and went to a Gomez ECQC class. I think force on force is gonna be my focus for the next year. Helping Will at Red Jacket and learning alot about building AK's... Got 2 Suppressors and 2 SBR's in the works.
Nice, after going to a supressor testing and shoot I am really wanting to pick up a couple myself. It's on the list. Will does excellent work, I have seen his work close up.
Yep. I'll totally screw something up and he'll be able to fix it. LOTS of skill there. I told him I wanted a SS can, so he's doing a run of his .22 rifle cans in SS. And we got to talking and then shot his AK can... So I opened my Wallet. While DRY, inside a metal building, I was 5 feet left and couple feet infront of it... With Subsonic ammo it still functioned, and it was very quiet. Supersonic didn't even hurt my ears. (Again, dry and inside) I can put it on an AK, (47 or 74) or on one of my 308's... But the 2 SBR's are Krinks... REALLY looking at Suppressing them. Gonna be nice packages.
