I'm all for the more traditional plain face, manual wind, mechanical movement - I hate batteries in watches! This is the one I have on my wrist, but I have bought others from this company. They also ship to the states... It's one of the owners own creations -the Rlt 33 "Railroad" from "Rlt watches" http://www.rltwatches.com/
MIL-W-46374E Watch The MIL-W-46374E specification for U.S. Military watches was issued 31 May 1989. It required a change from tritium luminous paint used with previous versions of the MIL-W-46374 to the use of tritium vials to contain the radioactivity that was the illumination source. The gaseous tritium vials were safer and more effective than paint. The design of the dial and the hands were updated and the H3 mark plus the symbol for radioactivity were required. Used to be cheap. You can read by the tritium at night its so bright. Kids look at me funny when i wind it.
Self winding, Needs regulation, gains 8 minutes a month. Update: Regulation done in July 07. No problem since, holds to half a minute a month. Since it needs manual date setting, there is no inconvenience.
Don't really care for watches on my wrist, always loved the pocket watch, and yes people do look at you funny when you wind them.
Thanks, the watch fits with my general philosophy on items. Expensive enough to get worth while features to ensure performance. Cheap enough to still get a good bang for buck ratio. Nice Bulova, sounds like it has a hefty price tag.
I had a Rolex - got rid of it as it was like putting a diamond on a pig, especially here in Pahrump. I love my Citizen Eco-Drive!
Dont have the pics but I wear a Casio data bank digital watch with auto light that turns on when the wrist comes up or can be togled off and it stores phone numbers and such, and is water resistant to 50 meters. Cheap enouph I dont cry so much if it gets busted or something.
No time pieces on this wrist! I did have a pocket watch I was quite fond of once, though. People really look at you funny when you're female and pull out a pocket watch . (I'd prefer a wind-up watch but those are getting rarer than hen's teeth these days and finding a jeweler to work on one reliably right along side.)
My Dad works on fine watches; he needed a hobby so he went to Switzerland several times to study under watch makers. One day, I'll inherit his collection and never again wonder what time it is.
I've sold the big boys before but as for me nothing beats the G-Shock. Virtually indestructible and leaves plenty of money for other things.
Personally I've never carried or worn a watch. There are clocks everywhere if I want to know the time and when I'm out in the woods where I want to be, I dont care to know what time it is. As for use as a compass there are many other ways to get direction. Time is a measurment that man has placed on himself.
