I got a thing for fighting knives. I have numerous edged weapons (that's correct: weapons). I collect boot knives, neck knives, Bowies, combat knives, Katanas, Dirks, tomahawks, fighting shovels, and other edged weapons. I'd like to see some of your fighters and hear about them. My favorite is a Randall number 1 with a black macarta grip that I have carried for many years but I have a custom made fighter from Don that I am nearly as fond of.
Great idea. Everything that I have, disregarding a balisong I just got, is over in my "Show Me Your Sharps" thread. My camera is broken, but when it gets fixed I will share a couple more pics.
Dang, Don beat me to it! My fav, too. From left to right, the combat tomahawk, followed by the MK3, Llewellyn fighter, and AK47 folder. Just my top 4 favorites, to give a bit of flavor variation.
Here is one of my favorites. It is a model 17 "Astro" made by Bo Randal for the Mercury astronauts. It is a bit smaller that the other fighters and has a hollowed area beneath the scales where you can hide a few hooks or matches. But all in all, it is a well balanced little fighter.
Bowies are great fighters, Tracy. I have one of Don's fighters too and it's no slouch. Here's a Puma fighter with Thuya wood scales.
Nice job! I am to afraid that I would mess up my knife to paint anything other than a trainer. Here is my CRKT Stiff Kiss, now sadly discontinued: The Mantracker, this pic is old I have since redone the handle and it lives in a Spec Ops brand sheath now: These are the fun ones. I wont bug you with bayonets or other military knives though.
I love knives and pretty much any hand held weapon, I don't have a lot of great knives though, most of my money goes towards guns if i ever get rich I am going to have a armor room that is full of authentic armor and old style weapons. I did some knife training in Martial Arts a while and it was a lot of fun although I can see how a real knife fight is going to end quickly and with a lot of blood and both parties bleeding. I carry a Cold Steel Voyager Tanto folding knife on a regular basis with a 4" blade. IMO 3"-4" is plenty for a conceal carry blade and still enough to kill some one. Other than that I have the Cold Steel Recon, Desperado and a few others and a Gil Hibben Kenpo bowie knife. The Recon will probably be a good camping knife with it's 8" blade.
You're correct; I'm not trying to be gross; but blood is slippery stuff so be sure the handle isn't slippery when wet. I have a Sissi puukko from Finland; it is the military issue version so there are rollers inside the sheath. The rollers make the knife secure yet it comes out quickly and silently. Ranger Puukko : Kellam Knives Worldwide, Inc. - Finnish Puukko Knives and Products (There is two styles of sheaths; with and without the rollers. I do not know if these have the roller system or not.) One of the translations for Sissi is guerrilla and puukko is Finnish for knife.
