That said, you can run a pump with a turbine (or vice versa, if you can find a good reason.) And low head turbines that work in streams are not too uncommon, even today, tho' subject to freezing. (Think undershot water wheel, for example.) Not a lot of differences between pumps and turbines or turbines and compressors from a theoretical standpoint. The scams for any type of energy producing device that require litlle to no input but promise a lot of output(Overunity) have came out of the wood work with the price of fossil fuels going through the roof. I am trying to figure out how this turbine uses the waters energy twice. He could have very easily explained the methods of operation, but like all the snake oil salesman, they claim that their secrets have to stay secret because of the "Big Oil", "Big Government", Big Corporations", are out to suppress their inventions. Sorry guys, but I will have to raise the on this one, besides, I have seen industrial grade water pumps that look just like his super turbine of his.
I have this sneaking suspicion he thinks he can violate the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics. (Ain't no way to get more out than you put in.) If this guy is as smart as the ad makes him out to be, he knows well that it ain't working without help. That said, you can run a pump with a turbine (or vice versa, if you can find a good reason.) You must be referring to the Pelton Wheel.Pelton wheel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/Fileeltonturbine-1.jpg" class="image"><img alt="" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/d9/Peltonturbine-1.jpg/220px-Peltonturbine-1.jpg"@@AMEPARAM@@commons/thumb/d/d9/Peltonturbine-1.jpg/220px-Peltonturbine-1.jpg I have done a lot of study on this and if I can ever find/buy my little piece of wilderness(paradise), this will likely be my main source of energy during the non frozen months, with wind/solar as primary source during winter.
Yep, that be it. They can be rigged in water falls as well as running streams. Those are generically described as impulse turbines. They convert the "impulse" of the water to rotation to drive a gennie. The things in most hydro plants are reaction type which works best in fully flooded conditions. An impulse type will NOT work flooded without very specialized casing designs.
